Iranian retaliation could come in the form of cyber/infrastructure attacks

Power grid, internet backbone, air traffic control, even the financial system. If the upper midwest loses power for a week in mid winter it would be a crisis situation for millions. If they did it through proxies there would be just enough deniability even though everybody knew they were behind it.

Depends on who's helping them. If China joins the fight, you're right. They'd hit our grid. napi21 Jan 2020 #2

I don't know this for sure, but I haven't heard that Iran was great with the net.

either. I recently read a book that was fiction for sure, but it was about a problem with the electric grid that serves Manhattan. There were a lot of other flukes that occurred at the same time, but the results were terrifying! Yes I know it was fiction, but the story makes you really think about what COULKD HAPPEN! We all know what things are like when our electricity goes out for a few hours. NOTHING in our hoe works! No coffee, no cooking, no heat or air, no lights, no computer, no TV. But if it's the grid that cant recover for a while, we're also talking no gas pumps, hospitals only have so many hours they can function on their emergency generators, same with grocery stores, * every other business you look to for sustenance.

I just hope those in charge of our grids and their emergency plans are good enough that none of us have to find out how bad things could get!

possibilities, it's always made sense to maintain a sustainable home. I've read that people in the rural upper west average our most resilient because bad storms, losing power, climate that can kill, and distance from services/help mean being on their own for a while isn't that unusual.

If the entire nation kept even 1 week's supplies, which we do not average, we'd be far more resilient to attacks on our life structures. As it is, all potential enemies know our appallingly extreme vulnerability.
