Actually, I can't contort that way (too old). I'd head for the basement under the stairs. We don't have provisions down there, but we do have 2 blow-up mattresses for when we slept down there during a tornado/high wind threat.

(28,340 posts)I should think in any situation like that, you should go to the most secure location available to you. Google emergency shelters in your city/county/area and settle on a plan. It will at the very least help you feel a little better - having a plan.

(12,470 posts)To stop this shit. Trump is a monster. Using war to try to stay in the Whitehouse. I despise him, I hate him and I wish he'd have a heart attack ,he needs to GO AWAY.
Go away before he fucks up the country with his thoughtless whapping the hornet nest in the middle East
A hornet's nest that never had to become a dangerous mess. One that will blowback on us who aren't in the billionaire club before it hits the cowardly pigs and rabidly ignorant people that voted for the orange anus that refuse to stop trump.

You do have to ask yourself why all the educated people are saying almost the same thing: that we should just consider ourselves at war.
Well, if some major light shows up in the sky, just don't look at it.
I live in an area of military activity. If I see anything unusual, I'll surely mention it here. Nothing so far.

(3,492 posts)Its not like Iran can hit us in any meaningful way. The most serious danger still comes from having this moron running things. Someone is going to pay for his idiotic actions but it wont be here. The Middle East/gulf region is in for a lot more suffering.

I remember the last time DU got into panic mode was something to do with Korea. And there were posts just like this, with some bravely swearing, Not going to the shelters without my cats!
Others practically weeping for all the death yet to come (which never did), saying stoically they were so glad they had lived most of their lives, but how sad for the young. And on, and on. And on.

(15,286 posts)from people like Price, Nance, Rhodes, etc, is that these folks are immersed in national security all the time. They are paid to figure out worst-case scenarios and how to respond. When it's your job to do this, dire warnings are a significant part of it.
I specifically remember Richard Clark, a national security guru in the Bush 43 WH. He saw threats everywhere because that was his job.

(42,703 posts)Do you think Iran has the capability of striking the US mainland with air craft or missiles?
The strike in Iraq was foolish. But scare mongering about it resulting in air raid sirens here in the US is stupid.
