(4,458 posts)to remember the "Old GOP"? Schmidt is representative of what "old school, respectable Pubs" Used to be like.
Pleasant people with whom you could disagree, have rational discussions over coffee about policy differences, compromise with and move forward....

(31,706 posts)Schmidt is a political animal. He lives for campaigns and the pump that living in that word brings. Running campaigns are now a cottage industry that has developed its own "cult" of professionals from Rove to Plouffe and many inbetween. Just like a manager or scout will know a great player, thus is Schmidt...admiring the way Clinton could command that room and speak so concisely. I've long marveled at the man's public speaking skills that were as sharp last night as ever. As a "student" of politics people like Schmidt, Steele and even Joey had to tip their hat to the Man from Hope....
