Marijuana legalization could be a huge issue that gets voters to the polls

Marijuana legalization could be a huge issue that gets voters to the polls and vote Democratic. There are big gains to be had here with Democratic *and* Republican leaning Independent voters who favor legalization.

Overt Democratic support for legalization would trigger Trump to take a stand on the issue. IMO, Democrats could peel off a substantial number of voters. The genie is out of the baggie. It’s time to move forward.

Recently, Rep Matt Gaetz scoffed and said, “Ok, Boomer” to Kellyanne’s not so positive comments about marijuana. Gaetz is softening on the issue and has Trump’s ear. I don’t want this POS to get Trump and the Republicans out in front of this issue before Democrats can.

Trump is treading water on the issue and just recently said, “He reserves the right to essentially ignore any provision of law approved by Congress that seeks to shield medical marijuana laws from federal interference”, Forbes Dec 21, 2019. But, he will go all in for legalization I think, if it benefits him.

From the article linked below:

Two-thirds of Americans support marijuana legalization

BY ANDREW DANILLER

“Majorities of Millennials (those born between 1981 and 1997), Generation X (born between 1965 and 1980) and Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) say the use of marijuana should be legal. Members of the Silent Generation (born between 1928 and 1945) continue to be the least supportive of legalization: Only 35% favor legalizing marijuana, while 64% are opposed.”

-snip-

“Millennial Republicans also broadly favor legalizing marijuana use; in fact, Republicans in this generation are almost as supportive of legalization as Millennial Democrats (71% vs. 78%).”

'OK, Boomer': Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz scoffs at Kellyanne Conway's stance on marijuana legalization

William Cummings

“Gaetz, 37, said he had worked to "be a positive influence" on President Donald Trump regarding marijuana reform. And he was not impressed by Conway's argument.”

almost everything about him, I've got to say, his stance on marijuana is refreshing, I would never in a million years vote for him, but refreshing nonetheless.

No candidate will be dinged by support for legalization. And, you might inspire a few stoners to go to the polls.
