Published 1 min ago on December 30, 2019
By Bob Brigham
The new year is expected to feature a Senate impeachment trial and the 2020 presidential election with both sides aggressively pushing their messages to voters.
But what are voters to do if one side simply lies?
That question was addressed on Monday by Dr. Bandy Lee, a forensic psychiatrist at Yale.
It does not take a professional to notice anymore that almost everything Donald Trump or his supporters say are projections (displacing unbearable thoughts and characteristics of their own onto others in order to disown them), Lee wrote on Twitter. They even project projection.

Not hard to remember and it cuts out all the gobbledygook and jargon.

Unless something has changed dramatically since I left, I don't see how people put up with it.

(14,174 posts)Raw Story is no different than many other sites. They redistribute news stories and link to the source. And even write their own. And I'm sure they don't make a fortune doing that.
One of the earlier news sites for liberals. They were a lifeline along with Bartcop before DU. And with the right monopolizing so much of media outlets, it's hardly the time to be crapping on a more left centered outlet.
I don't know how these smears started. Probably a right wing campaign to shut it up, but please stop.
Seriously, it's appalling how some on our side cut our own noses off to spite our face, because of mostly exaggerated BS

(2,832 posts)I am undendingly amazed at the anti-Raw Story brigade on this site.
Raw Story does what many, many other sites do: aggregates some, summarizes some, reports some. If you hate Raw Story you have to hate Alternet, Talking Points Memo, and, well Democratic Underground. Because they all do the same thing.
I entirely agree with you that this seems to have started as some sort of right wing campaign to minimize information from RS, maybe started here as a troll project. But it is now some sort of sad knee-jerk thing that is just a little annoying.
You will never find right-wing disinfo on Raw Story. You will find the contrary.
So why the dedication to slagging Raw Story.

(5,723 posts)I don't mind that they redistribute news stories.
I quit going there because the site became impossible to navigate. Buggy software kept locking up my browser and the browsers of other regulars.
If they've fixed that, I'd gladly go back.
If they haven't, they can go to hell and send me a selfie.

(14,174 posts)But it's hard not to assume you were talking about other phony BS spewed about RS by others rather than a technical issue. Of which I have never had with them. Maybe it's your computer?

So a lot of folks at RS have been complaining about the new format and its problems and said they have had enough, so I threw this place together as a sort of respite from those problems for the time being.
A place with disqus for our RS family to post and share and relax without having to deal with all the issues at RS.
We just wanted to make sure we had a place where all our RS friends could always drop by and say hello. Enjoy!

(6,880 posts)My favorite browser handles it very badly, so I tend to close it, open a dofferent one, and do all my RS browing just once a day.
Of course, even before Raw Story bought AlterNet, they shared may articles, and nowadays, anything RS has is for 99% sure going to be on AlterNet too, where iit's (for now) easier to read. But I do prefer the comments section at Raw Story.
I can't afford to go ad-free so for me, workarounds are the thing.

(18,125 posts)You can browse pain free and then click on a link if you see something you like. It's not a perfect solution, but you can avoid a lot of the hassles of viewing the rawstory home page.
BTW, Rawstory is one of my favorite sites.

(49,002 posts)To its credit Raw Story posts links to the articles they cannibalize (otherwise they'd be sued).
Simply follow the links and post the REAL news article, not the digested one.
Or both, if you must.

(2,146 posts)I have adblock. RS tends to get stories first. So why do you distract from that fact and try the equivalent of name calling?
LiberalLovinLug
(14,174 posts)As long as they post a link. Seems like DU also "digests" news for us.
Are you recommending folks here to only make their comments to the original source as well? We wouldn't have much of a site here in that case.
Also, if one isn't a star member here, don't you also get ads?
On top of that RS DOES employ some writers.
I had no idea there was this kind of problem.
All I know is their pioneering role, much like Air America did on radio, in diseminating important stories for a liberal audience back when hardly anyone was.
I think even if one doesn't use the site much they should be applauded and given a lot of respect for their role in that. Paving the way for other sites like DU
Bernardo de La Paz
(49,002 posts)Not so good.
But DU isn't a digester. It's a forum with some aggregation function run by the members directly.
LiberalLovinLug
(14,174 posts)My main point is that liberals should be the very LAST folks to be whining about one of the original stalwarts of liberal interest news stories. And still does that today.
Liberal sites are tough to keep running. Look at ThinkProgress. I give them some slack on some things that they may feel they need to do to stay afloat.

(2,065 posts)I've always said that any time you hear Donald Trump accuse anyone of anything - and I mean absolutely anything - you know that he is at least ten times more guilty of that very thing himself. Perhaps the greatest case of projection was when Trump called his political rival "Crooked Hillary".

(9,114 posts)After a few years, they figured out what Dems were saying about them, and what it meant, then they started ape-ing the accusation. It impressed them, on a subconscious level, I guess.
Agree 100% with you, don't even need to look up anything they're accusing us of, as soon as we hear them screaming and crying a charge, it's because they're planning it, just got caught doing it, or about to get exposed for doing it.
