Talk at the Sun Valley ID library, Dec. 26, 2019

Nice introduction by the event host.
Sec. Kerry's talk starts with a righteous rant about the state of our country.
He also recounts his own efforts on climate change as Sec. of State and how it's being undone by You Know Who.
Q and A starts at about 33-34 minutes.

(63,221 posts)What a different place the country, and the world, could be if only the right people were in charge.
It really made me sad that someone like John Kerry is speaking so intelligently in front of such a small audience when Donald Fucking Trump gets enormous crowds of hate-filled deplorables who hang on his every butchered word in order to get their nihilistic high. Just so depressing.

(59,504 posts)I think he and his wife and their family have celebrated Christmas in Sun Valley. The video speaks of how he also met with students and climate activists before this talk. Not to mention, he chose to teach at Yale, including bringing in speakers for conversations. Those "conversations" have a bigger audience than this one, but still very small compared to rallies. I think that the smaller events are more successful on a different level - answering people's questions and probably getting some to become more active on this.
I think many of our candidates could learn by watching how he did not become defensive when asked (politely) about carbon foot print. The answer was very good as it explained in more detail the sources of carbon and how they could be effectively addressed.
That said - if he were running, I would not be undecided.
