She is a stickler for decorum in the House, so I would not expect her to gavel him out, or to lead a walk out from the well. The Dem caucus, however... should walk out. It WILL be a shit show.

I think he will not show. He is too much of a coward to face his accusers. He will give some address from the White House.

Just MHO.

Goose, meet gander.

But we will be all nicey-nice, contributing to the (richly deserved) impression that dems have no spine.

Nancy should cancel the SOU. the turd is illegitimate, an actual treasonous traitor to this country, therefore undeserving of giving a SOU, and will turn it into a maggot rally.

Nancy should NOT countenance a shit-show.

BUT, give him a microphone and there is a chance he will just confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt to his koolaide drinking cultists what most of us already believe.

OK, I change my mind, give him the mic, Nancy, and THEN make him eat every word he utters.

Speaker Pelosi will not allow disrespect in her House. She holds the power of the occasion. Knowing she could shut him down and having seen that every time he tries to push it with her she wins bigly, he'll probably wimp out and do it from the WH if at all. From the WH he's free to spew all kinds of crap so if he does deliver, that's more likely the way it will happen.

On the other hand, if he tries to spew his bile from the House, that will be interesting to say the least and could be done with the intent of dealing a deadly blow to Congress. Since it's likely to take place during a trial in the Senate, or still be waiting, he's going to be fighting for is life and that means he's going to fight dirty, it's all he knows. And we know how he rolls so we can guess what he'll do regardless of any advice that might be offered beforehand.

Speaker Pelosi should just sit back, smile, and enjoy the entertainment.
The Democratic party members in attendance should laugh at him like it's a Comedy Central special.

My bet is he's pretty close to losing it. One good nudge would get him frothing on international TV.

We need to respond as Democrats, not an imitation of republicans. Mimicking republicans' behavior only validates it and gives them an excuse to come back even more outrageous the next time. Of course, they will also have the audacity to criticize Democrats for being crude and vulgar. They have a seriously underdeveloped sense of irony.

I really hate when I hear Democrats yell "Lock him up", even though it is well deserved. We believe in the rule of law, not mob justice.

not a socially strong person, but a coward. That's why he fires by tweet instead of facing someone. He can't handle direct disapproval from others, nor can he handle confrontation. He can date at some submissive underlings but unless he has all the power, and his interlocutor is already cowed, he is easy to force into a conciliatory posture.

and Senate representatives need? Moscow Mitch and others around him have their own agenda, and that is to stifle any democratically sponsored bills and retain the budget busting, failed tax cut bill of 2017 so their billionaire and millionaire buddies will get richer and contribute more to the republicans' PACs for upcoming elections. In addition, Moscow Mitch has stifled any efforts (and continues to do so) to enact effective measures against meddling in our elections. What's his true purpose here? It seriously makes you wonder what in the hell is his rationale?

More dark money coming into our elections is making our elections outrageously expensive, and distorting
and stifling our individual freedom of speech, that is, those that have the money, get to speak out more than all of us combined. What if some of us are unable to actively participate in our elections in this manner (donating funds)? If they can't, then in effect, their rights have been totally suppressed, by money, in effect.

Of course the more wealthier companies and individuals are able to garner more resources, gather more funds, and thus, speak out far more than each individual.

Citizens United opened the doors wide open to massive amounts of money (foreign or national) coming into our elections with little oversight. This massive amount of money has seriously infringed on the freedom of speech enjoyed formerly by individuals and has allowed freedom of speech enjoyed by corporations to overwhelm all others.

If the Democrats walk out as soon as the SOTU begins, it would look juvenile and premeditated.

A more effective strategy would be to plan the walk out for when Trump begins his attacks on the House for impeaching him.

All it would take is for a large group to laugh at him once and he would go of like a barrel of gasoline which would bring everyone to the conclusion that he needs to go. If everyone sat there and stoically watched the meltdown, all the better. It will be a tough night for the nation but we will not survive without wounds, but we must prevail.

killed the shut down. It will be another roller-coaster ride this year.

It's going to be tense. I live in a reddish state and a friend, who is Asian, said they are moving in a couple weeks because they are afraid for their safety when shit gets rolling next month. They get harassed a lot in town and that sucks and they have children. So they are going to another state where they feel safer.

I just hope it all gets done quickly and we can start to clean up the mess.
