My friend was merely pointing out that the replacement aircraft was a spanking new A321.
It is true that AA has Airbus aircraft among its fleet (mostly from United's fleet) but but generally AA supported Boeing. He sent me a note because in his view the madness at Boeing will have serious long term consequences. Greed kills.

Delta, which all but pulled out of the DFW market years ago, has returned with a large and growing presence, partially because AA doesn't have the planes to fill their slots (they had been counting on the 737 Max to be certified by now), but also because they are just a better airline.

You know what makes me really sad - the fact that business school and marketing folks are over-riding engineers. It will lead to many deaths.
There is no bottom line when it comes to safety.
