(1,076 posts)Its the lefts version of deplorables. Think Susan Sarandon and that ilk who are more liberal-than-thou, and dumber than a sack of hair. They actually think the revolution is at hand if only everyone in the country will wake up and vote for Ralph Nader, Jill Stein, BS, or whatever other quasi-leftie loser in the making they support, even though no candidate has ever won the White House running further than moderate left. If they cant get the perfect, pure candidate they prefer, then these monsters take their toys and go home. Never mind what will become of women, minorities, the environment, laboryou know, what REAL liberals care enough about to vote to keep traitor consetvafilth out of government? Oh, thats compromising and thinking of the REAL greater good, and they cant do that!
But they know everything better than those of us who have lived in such realities as running for office, or working on actual campaigns (not just knocking on doors or manning a phone bank), or, you know doing actual political science research like demographics or in academia.
Just ask them. They know everything better than the rest of us.
You knowyour typical insufferable prats.

(9,323 posts)I think its really wrong to single out Nancy Pelosi. MFA has no where near enough support to pass Congress with or without her in Washington.
Edited to say thats even if you accept his premise that MFA would save all those lives.

They're called campaign contributions. When Nancy Pelosi took bribes from insurance companies and 45,000 people died ...' is quite a stretch.

(10,500 posts)I think some people feel that the phrase has a long history of being used in multiple contexts at this point, beyond who it initially referred to. But you can reject that position and criticize Cenk for taking that name for his show.
I am simply pointing out that Cenk has long since retracted his questioning of the Armenian genocide and has repeatedly stated that it did happen.

(302 posts)Excerpt: "Also, if you want to get technical about it, that "45,000 people died" is from a 2009 American Journal of Public Health study which estimated that "Lack of health insurance is associated with as many as 44,789 deaths [annually] in the United States, more than those caused by kidney disease."
But here's a thing worth noting: The ACA greatly expanded the number of people in the US with health coverage, cutting the percentage of Californians without insurance in half, for instance, from 22 percent in September 2013 to 11 percent by June 2014. And if the Roberts Court hadn't given states the ability to opt out of Medicaid expansion, the number of people with no coverage at all would be even smaller.
Remember when Donald Trump was trying to repeal Obamacare and all those people came forward to talk about how it saved their lives? Joke's on them, because Cenk Uygur says they're actually dead. America really needs somebody with such sharp analytical skills in Congress."
