The store was Barnes and Nobles. We went there to get a wall calendar and decided not to wait. There were still 9 days to 2020.
But I was glad to see many in a "brick and mortar" store, purchasing "brick and mortal" books. I admit, we rarely purchase books these days. Spouse uses the Kindle with the preferred font size, and i get mine - print and e-books - from the library. Last year we had to change the carpet in the living room, where there are four bookcases full of books and we donated many..
And to think that Amazon started as a book site..

Happy Holidays!

question everything
(47,486 posts)Am used to leaf back and forth if I want to check something mentioned earlier.
But spouse has tried, recently two books that I recommended and found the font too small - the print format was small - and ended up purchasing a kindle version from... yes, Amazon.
The local library is moving toward e-books so sometimes i have no choice. And... if I want to grab a book before someone else borrows it, in the evening when the library is closed, downloading it is easier..
Cheers

(2,212 posts)Pretty good crowd, I spent some money and took the gifts home. No big lines at checkouts.
I stopped at Costco after- place was mobbed and the lines were crazy.
I did buy some stuff on Amazon too.
Merry Christmas.

(23,350 posts)Half the charities asking for money send me calendars. Others send blank Xmas cards. I just pile them up and give them away.
Some of them even get some money.

Their basic message: since the world is ending, your savings are of no use to you. You might as well send them to us.
Most of the calendars were more optimistic, making it appear that the world will not end until after 12/31/2020. We can only hope.
Merry Christmas, and Happy Boxing Day.

(30,745 posts)It is a coffee shop, too, and has live music on the weekends.
The owner is a loyal Democrat, from a strong Democratic family. The store has been there for years, and continues to thrive. Usually, my husband gets me a gift certificate from the store at Christmas time. It is a welcome gift.

(42,759 posts)Finally found one at Office Depot for around eight bucks.
I found out later I could have bought one just as good at
Family Dollar for a buck. Been getting them there ever since.
