The FBI is asking questions about the pardons Matt Bevin (R) issued during his last weeks as Kentucky governor, the Louisville Courier Journal has learned.

(22,133 posts)early release of these rapists, murderers, etc. out of the jails of Kentucky. Where do you think all of these people will go afterwards? Possibly to neighboring states (I'm in MO), and I do worry that we'll have some backlash from all of these pardons. I guess we can retaliate, by pardoning and releasing our own crooks from jail, making sure to release them near the borders of Kentucky. I wonder how they'll like that? I suspect that they wouldn't. I wouldn't.
Despicable. The last act of a desperate want-to-still-be governor.

(8,835 posts)if he offered them a free bus ticket to any other city outside of Kentucky.
L.A. courts used to do that with gang, and drug dealers. The arrested could choose between Jail, or take a pre-paid bus ticket to Portland, Seattle, LasVegas or Denver with the deal that they never come back to California or they will be arrested and sent to Jail/Prison.
Other cities have done the same thing, giving free bus tickets to the homeless to any city outside of their state.....

(22,133 posts)STLMO have dumped some of their homeless in downtown STLMO. Dumping them onto STLMO tax payers so these homeless won't clutter their cities. Ridiculous and just points out the fallacy that such problems as the homeless doesn't occur in their neighborhoods.

(25,941 posts)but I recall reading about a high degree of correlation between pardons and political donors. Wish the CJ had the courage to connect the dots.

(58,785 posts)KY Senate President Robert Stivers calling for US attorney to investigate.
"Meanwhile, Baker's attorneys are pushing for an investigation into the Kentucky State Police troopers who worked Baker's case, claiming Baker was framed."
That last may not be smart, shining a state police spotlight on his guilt, but typical Republican attack as defense.
Given the corruption that's swamped the Republican Party, it seems possible most of the 650 pardons could have been issued to mask political favors, such as Baker's case.

(5,499 posts)And any charges of bribery come at the state level, so he can't be pardoned.

The only real organization to do this is the FBI

(50,560 posts)The only reason Bevin pardoned 500 violent criminals is that he couldnt send the Kentucky National Guard to invade Somalia.

(11,317 posts)I don't recall any. My impression -- almost totally at executive discretion? Other hand -- must be some basis for FBI looking in?

(81,320 posts)There should be LOTS of shit for them to have to face. Because if theyre GOP, theyre up to no good. And they cheat to win. And they win by CHEATING. They have to, because the numbers arent there for the GOP. There are more Dems. So cheating is the only way they CAN win.
