went by George after his brother Ed gave up the family business. He died of lung cancer among other ailments, including arteriosclerosis and Buerger's disease.

in Jerusalem. She was congenitally deaf as well. I didn't know she lived with the family in the palace until her death.

He had a tough childhood but to the point of one of the posts, it's amazing how well you can age when you don't have to work for a living...

I think much of the criticism is spot on. Being Royal may not be all rose petals but no one forces them to continue. They could abdicate at any time but that would require leaving behind the pot of gold. And while the Royals have never been accused of being the brightest burning candles, they aren't too stupid to realize on what side their biscuits are buttered.

Even if I could, I wouldn't want it. We all have our own skill sets.I was a HVAC serviceman for many years. Nobody forced me into it and i could have walked away at anytime. Money was good though and I was never out of work.

106 years old when she got to meet the Obamas in 2016
She is STILL alive as of today at 110. Mental capacities fully intact too.

..live off their social security earned. Many have to choose between paying a utility bill or buy medication needed, or cut back on monthly expense for food. Lack of home ownership, savings [stocks and bonds] creates generational poverty.

I think I read her story shortly after hee visit to WH, not sure what her circumstances were/are just came to mind when I see any centennial--hopefully she is well cared for near family If she hasn't passed on since that photo was taken years back. Damn, I hope I'm as sprite, happy as she seems to be--joy, pure joy.
