I was in a small market this morning (one I won't go back to because of their choice radio station blaring in the storecouldn't wait to get out of there), they had a right wing AM radio station on, and I couldn't help notice that the extreme right is screaming about Nancy not pushing the impeachment through to McConnell. They were even calling her "that freak."
If I were to guess, I would say the right had all their ducks in a row for what to do the day after the impeachment passed congress. Now they have rethink the whole thingmore phone calls to Putin. They'd probably been planning this for several monthsand the part they hate most: now they have to wait for what Nancy Pelosi wants.

(19,979 posts)So they can scream "victory" and "total exoneration" and "perfect innocence" and dance and sing and flush 15 times and...and then get back to the business of undermining the national security and "dismantling the administrative state" and election rigging and counting their rubles and helping Pooty meddle and...and...and...

(86,579 posts)That may be an underlying part of the plan. When he has to wait, it totally frosts his buns. And when it's Mme. Speaker, it's almost too much for the child. She's just walking all over his grand scheme in ways he can't even fathom let alone predict.
I think that we will have a big surprise by Monday, I don't know whether it's good or bad but I feel something coming over the weekend. And I am certain it has something to do with IMPOTUS. I wonder if he'll have a health emergency or some kind of major disaster will take place. We have to watch out for wagging of the dog at this point too. A cornered rat will lunge out at you.

(16,949 posts)From Shogun, by James Clavell, based on history: On October 21, in the mountains near Sekigahara Lord Toranaga defeated Lord Ishido. Some 40,000 heads were taken. Toranaga sent Ishido to Osaka where he was buried up to his neck. People passing by Ishido were invited to saw on the man's neck with a bamboo saw. Ishido died three days after he was buried. Lord Torinaga became the Shogun, appointed by the emperor.

(19,060 posts)She was probably timing this from the get go to at least wait until January to send it to the Senate, but Mitch's words gave her the ammo she needed to make serious demands. And the people are with her, 70% of the public wants to see a fair trial now.

(7,431 posts)should be sued to recuse themselves from participating in the Senate trial. They should be sued for perjury, since they MUST take an oath that guarantees their impartiality when they have already confessed that they will NOT be impartial. A civil suit may be the only recourse since Barr is the AG and will NEVER permit any action harmful to Trump.
Yeah, it sounds nutty because of the slow Court processes that would need to be set in motion, but there may be no legal alternative. A perjury allegation, without recusal, ought to be a headliner in the coming days.
McConnell and Graham really stepped in their own shit.

(51,590 posts)as well as CNN and MSNBC pundits recommending this approach by the House. How could they have been caught by surprise since they are the "experts" when it comes to sneaky maneuvers? This should have been the first thing they expected. Geniuses Linsey and Mitch are not too clever and shrewd after all.

(18,486 posts)The discussion has centered on Pelosi holding back the articles. But the tactic she's using - the appointment of the managers as the trigger - came out of left field and is brilliant.

StarfishSaver
(18,486 posts)isn't brilliant. And you can bet this move has been mapped out for far longer than the last week.
First, while they "discussed" holding back the articles, none of them proposed any tactic for doing it. The tactic she's using is genius.
And second, don't assume that Pelosi's getting her ideas and strategies from various people talking about things in the internet and cable news. Just because she's not talking publicly doesn't mean she hasn't already thought of it and isn't miles ahead of the pundits and experts giving their opinions in the media.
In other words, the fact that you heard the idea from someone else before you heard it from her doesn't mean they gave the idea.

(51,590 posts)Charlie Sykes, Prof. Tribe, John Dean, and more were on the cable news shows discussing it. That is how I heard of ot over a week ago and started to confider, then promoting the idea. If little ol' me knew, than why not the "super geniuses" Mitch and Lindsey? They probably knew it was a possibility but didn't think Pelosi would actually do it.
dewsgirl
(14,961 posts)I agree, they didn't think she would do it. Also, I bet they didn't tell Trump. I'm sure it took him by surprise, he was counting on controlling the narrative by now and spinning this as a win somehow. Nancy Pelosi is brilliant, I look forward to her next moves.

(51,590 posts)since the moron wanted a big show on TV and Lindsey convinced him to go the other way and have a fast trial in the Senate with no witnesses, etc.

(5,269 posts)I saw him on TV a few days before the impeachment where he said he no longer expected Congress to hold sending articles to Senate since Dems were acting expeditiously and Constitution states articles "shall be" sent to Senate.
However McConnell admitting working with WH and desire for quick acquittal with no witnesses and then Schulers' request for witnesses gave Pelosi the opening to hold off until she knows enough to appoint managers.

(62,521 posts)they grossly underestimate Pelosi because, as an all male dominated party who are used to repuke women cowtowing to their bullshit, they think this was going to be a walk in the park. "after all, she's just a woman" is their thinking.

(8,731 posts)He certainly let everyone know his plans a day after Obsma got elected. And saw zero consequences. Like tRump, he felt invincible for never being held accountable, i.e. Merrick Garland. Now let's continue to force accountability on all these traitorous assholes. Forgot were, but one country last week beheaded a high up for treason. Sounds reasonable. Not sure how to cut through all the Turltle necks.
