I think that many Republicans have a distinctive "look" that lets me spot them from a mile away. It's hard to describe and I don't know if there's a definitive list of specific characteristics that can be compiled. I guess it's kind of a "total package" kind of thing in their overall appearance and style.
As I'm watching today's impeachment proceedings... there's not a single Republican who's been onscreen that I would have mistaken to be a Democrat.

(42,862 posts)Poofy wigs and bad shellacked toupees that don't match their natural hair color. Brown toupees and gray eyebrows (and gray untrimmed neckhair sticking out from beneath the toupee neckline) ... pathetic. Do they think we can't see? They're not fooling anyone.

There was one ancient crone who drove off the road almost hitting us, she was so busy showing us her "Trump 2020" bumper sticker that she carried in her purse.

When they start talking a mile a minute there is no question, but for some reason, women, too.
Ted Lieu is back! All rested and speaking out. Democrats do not need to yell.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)The yelling, yes...that's part of it also. There's a lot of "country" accents among the GOP as well.
Their blatant disregard for the truth, and the fact that they appear to believe the lies... well, it just makes them look like gullible goobers.

(11,100 posts)after reading some of these responses to you, I almost feel grateful.
The look I see on Republicans is one of impatience, disinterest when a lesser is speaking. They really have no use for people whose grandfather didnt give them 75 acres and a bank job.... one of those white bank jobs.
Then there are some other Republicans (like Mr. Gym Jordan) who just grin. They grin when traumatized people are speaking, they grin when protestors get sprayed with tear gas , they grin when Trump throws paper towels at hurricane victims.
Republicans have certain looks for sure, and I detest every single one of them.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)I thought it may be something that's interesting to watch, but I had to turn it off. The GOP whining and stupidity was just too much to handle. So many lies! So many insults.
No minds will be changed today. They're just talk-talk-talking to their constituents, or to Trump.

(635 posts)They all have that same condescending smirk/sneer on their pasty faces. And if they also happen to be of the evangelical persuasion those facial expressions are even more pronounced. I can spot them a mile away. I wish this weren't the case.

(18,748 posts)(Charlie Brown style.) It's as if an ordinary plumpish white man had a very powerful vacuum nozzle fastened to his face, turned it on full *suck*, and pulled all his features into a little mad rictus. The rest of the skin around their features is blank. No bones, just mushroom-colored skin all the way up to an obsessively controlled hairline.
That's what I see when look at Republicans, singly or in a group.

(876 posts)It takes a while to interpret the signs. I stopped lending my utility trailer to my neighbor the minute I recognized it. It occurred to me that if something went wrong, he would do anything to put the blame on anyone but him. They all do it reflexively.

Gentleman, if youre going to dye your hair please have a professional do it. Hair color is very subtle, a range of colors that lighten as we age.
Are a lot of you color blind? Its hard to take someone seriously when all i can do is muse WHAT are they thinking?

NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)I know that broad-brush generalizations are risky... but it often seems that the Democrat or liberal politician from a "Southern drawl" state has lost their accent, or it's not as pronounced and exaggerated.
I guess I sometimes wonder if the Republican politicians from those states make an effort to emphasize their drawl.
