Let's sketch out a scenario where he's convicted/removed from office at the Sen. Impeachment Trial

What do you see as the prerequisites to his conviction in the senate? If we are lucky enough to live in a world where's he not only impeached but removed as well, I foresee the first sign being a 100-0 Senate Vote on the ground rules of the trial like we saw in 1998. That's a prerequisite I think. I think the second would be an opening statement by the House Managers of Impeachment that blows the socks off of the nation followed by a WH defence opening statement that spews the wildest of conspiracy theories completely divorced from reality, embarrassing the GOP. The failure of the WH opening statement leads Murkowski, Gardiner, Romney and Collins to join all 47 Democrats to compel the witnesses that Schumer requested to testify to do so.

Sound realistic? I'll leave the rest to you as I'll end my scenario with John Bolton raising his right hand in the well of the senate. He's about to testify under oath live to the entire nation. Will he drop the hammer? The presidency hangs in the balance....

P.S: An alternative nightmare scenario is that the trial ground rules pass 53-47 on a completely partisan vote. Romney and Collins wax poetic about how a trial designed to uncover the facts would harm the nation irreparably and become a partisan circus that we just can't handle gosh darn it! The House presents a compelling opening statement but somehow the WH manages to hire a competent legal team that puts on a defence that the entire senate KGOP caucus can rally behind, and, on a 53-47 vote, the senate proceeds directly to a vote on acquittal immediately following opening statements with no fact-finding whatsoever.

There is zero interest in hold anyone in the Republican party accountable for anything. From 1980 whatever it was on when they started with propaganda radio and TV, this was the whole point.
