Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just got back from IMPEACH TRUMP protest!
There was a good turnout and more than I expected since we just got the date from the House Wed night. Most cities will have their protests TUES PM! More protests are being added and 550 are now planned. Check the link (often) to find a protest near you. Spread the word and share the info.
RESIST! PERSIST. Peace.
Impeach & Remove Events are ON: The Nobody Is Above the Law network has activated.
Events are called for Tuesday, December 17th at 5:30 p.m. local time, but check your local event for a confirmed time and location. Numerous reports indicate that the House will vote on impeachment on Wednesday. December 18th.

(51,604 posts)I had several people take photos of my signs (two sided). I had him behind bars on the one side and with Hitler hair and moustache and a red clown nose on the other side. There were peaches with his face on them. One had "Naughty boys get impeached, ask Santa".

(2,962 posts)For a "Nobody is Above the Law" rally Tuesday at noon in Greenville, SC. At this time, we have 377 people signed up. Yeah, that Greenville. We are one of four rallies in the state. We're hoping to add people willing to work to help get Democrats elected and take down Lindsey Graham.

(51,604 posts)going down hill but this was my 26th "protest" since Nov., 2016. I hope to go to the Women's March Jan., 18th, 2020. The theme this year is Women Rising!

(51,604 posts)flying to DC and the whole plane was a sea of pink hats. The pilots turned on pink colored aisle lights to salute them. I'm going to the one in San Diego again (4th one).
I bet this year will be bigger than last year's since it will be around the time the Senate gets the impeachment case and people will be pissed that the misogynistic GOP are cheating their way to another victory. The turnout for the impeachment protest yesterday was pretty good considering the timing and how quickly it came together. If that is any indication about the general attitude right now I see many pink hats hitting the streets in Jan., 2020.

Gonna be lousy weather for the nearest (~1 hour away) protest around here.

(51,604 posts)my sign. It is pretty heavy duty with a dowel and cardboard. I hold it over my head the whole time and spin it around. Today was very windy and I almost got knocked over several times. Today there was a woman speaker who was "Nancy" wearing a white suit and she spoke and gestured just like the real deal. Today I clapped for her and I copied the "Nancy" type of clap with extended arms like she did at the State of the Union Address so I put my sign down for that.

(43,173 posts)Presidents shouldn't be impeached for political acts. That's for the ballot box.
I understand the DOJ policy opinion that sitting presidents can't be indicted. Because presidents have work to do, and opposition parties could all but fabricate crimes to keep them busy and make political points.
But felonies that would convict ordinary citizens in an ordinary US jurisdiction should be indictable in ordinary courts of law if only because as we see here, the Senate is a miserable place to find an impartial jury!

Was not at 5:30 PM
Dark, forcast is for 20 Degrees F, 1-3 inches of snow forcast.
Not my idea of standing outside protesting weather.
Well see.
It would be my first protest, but I didnt want to have frostbite!

(51,604 posts)was Nov., 8, 2018 to protect the Mueller Report and was planned for 5:30 PM too. It is very inconvenient. Others at yesterday's rally were grateful it was on Sunday here, even though many people were not aware that is was not going to be Tues PM like the majority of rallies across the US.

(51,604 posts)limit my activist activities...it was just a matter of time. I have not been to more than three protests this year due to it but when I heard about thos one I said, "Tough, I am going whether I feel sick or no!". I have waited 4 years for this and was NOT going to let my health stop me, damn it!!!
Calling the GOP senators and sending postcards via Indivisible is something I can do from home and can still do regardless of my health situation. I will be calling the senators big time. I pretend I am a constituent using addresses from Zillow (in case they want verification). I have done it literally hundreds of times and it works.

(86,636 posts)but last time I was out with them I lived in a different county. Ours is tomorrow @ 5:30pm so I have my ski bibs, warm boots & mittens ready, making a lit sign with microlights inside and glow ring necklaces! I used to live in serious cold country, what we have in my new location is nothing compared to that. Hell, I don't even have to get the heavy duty stuff out. I'm up for this!

(51,604 posts)I never take pictures at the rallies but usually find one posted. I just saw one a few hours ago in a newspaper article on line. My sister and my neighbor are in one of them too. Here is my sign (can't see me...good) the one with balloons and TRAITOR on it. On the other side of the sign I have the same picture but with Hitler hair and a clown nose. Both sides have a very long red tie hanging from it. I even put a piece of tape on it like he did during his first year in office to hold it in place...I guess his stapler didn't work.

(8,709 posts)Just saw your post, clicked the links, stunned to see a rally here and got on the horn. I've got some some cardboard and hope to make at least one sign.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you posted. Fired Up and Ready to God!
On Edit: Whoops! I meant Fired Up and Ready to Go!

(51,604 posts)in Nov. 2016. My very first sign had him as the Grinch with a Hitler mustache and swastikas in his eyes and some people thought it was distasteful. That was then, this is NOW and I am not the only one making Hitler comparisons 3 years later. Distasteful my ass! I was spot on and my eyes were wide open.
Are you going to one in Escondido or Encinitas?

Seriously, it's mind blowing that any one could think your sign was distasteful in any period of time.
It's so awfully sad and frustrating that time is the impediment for changing minds.
