This loser did it on purpose. March him out of school.

The implications are chilling.

I'd like to know more about it, like was there a plan for this to happen, what would we see if we looked at academy publications like yearbooks. Have any of these nitwits been warned about racist behavior or utterances before.
These guys were given a great opportunity for an education, being kicked from an academy is a pretty severe punishment, I'd like to hear a few questions answered first.
cwydro
(51,308 posts)I guess if these pics and videos go viral, the academies cant ignore it, so we can hope they get those answers.

(2,517 posts)how fucking embarrassing.
Hope the offenders are told not to report back to West Point after the holiday break. This shit is intolerable - especially with the god damned 'sign' right next to a person of color's head.

RT Atlanta
(2,517 posts)It's such an honor and process to receive an appointment to one of the academies and then to flush it down the drain with this stupid behavior is truly shocking.
Part of life is dealing with consequences for our acts and I am hopeful the Army leadership is going to send strong messages to both those young men as well as the rest of their classmates that racism and stupid behavior like this will not be tolerated - period!
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)I wouldn't put it past him, he did pardon suspected war criminals and restored an honor to another one. So why wouldn't prevent those pinheads from being decommissioned?

(50,559 posts)They all need to be formally drummed out of the Corps of Cadets - yes, with actual drums - then shipped straight to Fort Jackson to be sent to basic training, just like they'd never been associated with the military at all. After that, they can be given the shittiest jobs the Army has...MOS 92R Shower, Laundry and Clothing Repair Specialist, 92Y Unit Supply Specialist, 92M Mortuary Affairs Specialist and 92G Food Service Specialist sound like four perfect jobs for these individuals.

(11,026 posts)Where they make that sign where if you look at it, you're the asshole?
My boss and some of the people on my team at work do it as a prank thing. Annoying, and not really something a military cadet should do, but not racist.

(11,026 posts)The white power symbol is an OK symbol, not an upside down OK symbol.
I'm the first person to call it out when it's an OK symbol.
This isn't.

(11,026 posts)Tell my African American co-workers who do it on a daily basis that they're actually making a racist symbol. Because they know it as "The Circle Game".
This whole thing started with Pepe the Frog making an OK symbol. Now anything remotely resembling an OK symbol is racist. I got rightfully corrected over people making a 3-point sign at a basketball game.
CONTEXT.
A bunch of immature teenagers at a football game are dropping a circle, not secretly flashing white power on TV.
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
I also wonder how easily it would be for the Christchurch idiot to turn his wrist around to make a proper OK symbol while shackled.
Look at photos of Proud Boys, Roger Stone, etc. It's always rightside up, because that's the symbol, not the circle game...

(2,375 posts)They try to get each other to look down at their hand and then start laughing. They do it to me too. I can't wait to tell them the other meaning of this on Monday, since several of them who do this are people of color.
We've had group photos done onsite, and we've had to take them over because there would be someone doing this with their hand in the photo.

(5,969 posts)face can also be clearly seen by millions. How stupid can you be? It also cannot be mixed up with the OK sign. The most harmless interpretation could be that it's this game (like the one who looks at it gets punched) that I want to believe it's true for the sake of all the minorities serving with them.
They better have a believable explanation or they should get kicked out, at least 3 of them.
Edit: After rewatching, I have to take back the benevolent explanation. The way the fingers are spread away to form the W-part leaves no doubt. It's really shocking actually.

(7,398 posts)At that point there is some kind of pecking order if the appointment does not go through. Think about those implications. I have no idea who approved these guys but it makes one wonder.

(31,261 posts)It also used to mean "A ok, we're good", but no longer. A person that uses it has to explain themselves, maybe that is the corner that white supremacists wanted to force us into. I have no idea how we take back the symbol and once again make it mean the historical meanings.
sweetloukillbot
(11,026 posts)The OK symbol has been coopted by the Alt Right.
This points DOWN. And is NOT an OK symbol.
It's an asshole symbol. Because you're the asshole who looked at it.
It is different.

(3,075 posts)it's just the W and the P regardless of the direction. the only way to get it "pointing up" (in this scenario) would be to squat lower than the person in front of you and hold it up. try it....
sweetloukillbot
(11,026 posts)I'm obviously not going to convince you that it's college students acting like children, since you are unwilling to entertain the possibility that it is a harmless, if annoying, game, and not a bunch of military cadets destroying their careers. Because you saw a random post from someone on Twitter who is being roundly told that it is the Circle Game and not a nefarious white supremacist plot...
RazBerryBeret
(3,075 posts)since you are unwilling to look at the other incidents of the same game being played. I haven't seen anyone here saying it's a nefarious white supremacist plot, more like a joke of trying to stir up an outcry, which is how it started. and it works every time, so it continues, so it is a sort of game... just not the innocent circle game.

(3,075 posts)those sweet young men are playing a junior high school game when they know they are on national TV, yeah that makes sense. google search this, it started as a joke on 4chan, basically to annoy the lib-ruls. Roger Stone has been photo'd playing this game with his buddies and this game was played directly behind Kavanaugh's head during his confirmation hearing, also on national TV.
