So, Will Senators Be Getting Threats?

I'll bet they will. The Trumpsters love to send death threats to people. I would wager that every Senator, Republican or Democrat, will get threats that basically say:

"If you vote to impeach Donald Trump, you'd better watch your back, because we're coming for you."

I think there is a 100% chance of this, and the threats will be multiple. I hope some Senators make those threats public, so everyone can see how Trump supporters act. The public needs to see this.

2. Undoubtedly. Unquestionably. Certainly. Indisputably. Incontestably. Incontrovertibly. Irrefutably.

thugs, and not just the senators either. Seems like folks who gripe and moan, etc. all disappear into the bit bucket after a while, so I don't know if they are being intimidated or not (I've heard that this is so, but can't recall the particular DU post/etc. covering this tidbit of news).

I agree w/ you, make the threats public, so folks will know what's happening. I don't know why they are not being made more public, perhaps being threatened to keep quiet too, about the threats. Some of the reasoning why I make this assertion is the total turn-around by Lindsey Graham, others on rump.

4. Aren't the authorities supposed to investigate such threats

against public officials? Where are the arrests? It's a federal felony to threaten a member of Congress in either house.

especially with the turn around of support by some previous competitors of rump (Lindsey G., Paul R., others).

It's like a light switch being thrown, and they are totally different in mentality. Can't be money, they raise enough on their own as it is...it's something else is going on...also, would not also you think that they would get more if they played rough ball w/ rump too, that is 'I won't vote for this unless you give me a $billion dollars for projects a, b, c, and d in my state, etc.?'.

I am just trying to figure out the total switch around here...I, like you, have been around w/ politics for some time, and I'm puzzled by the switch in die hard support for rump.

7. I think there's stuff going on behind the scenes that we know

nothing about. I'm almost sure of it. What sort of stuff I don't know, but stuff. There is pressure being brought to bear by people those folks have to listen to. Could be kompromat from the Russians. Could be something else. I just don't know, and we aren't going to find out anytime soon, I'm afraid.

Lindsey Graham seems downright scared of something, I think.

8. Absolutely. I can't imagine what in the world LG would be afraid of. If it so dire, e.g.,

that the Russians threatened to explode a nuclear device already hidden on American soil, the democrats would also have been warned.

No, I think it is more base, more gross, more vulgar than a simple threat to the Country.

Perhaps all have been comprised by the Soviets (but as you say, why not alert the FBI, Secret Service, etc.?). Makes more sense that those around rump have done the comprising via perhaps mob contacts in NYC (rump's original home base), and no one else. All mob-related.

Again, my speculation. No one else's! Take care.

to anyone, or it will become public or lead to criminal charges. That's how blackmail works. You have information the victim can't have released, so you can hold them up for something.

What that information might be, I have no idea, and I wouldn't speculate. But, the sudden backing off from things that Lindsey Graham has done multiple times seems to me to be informative. He'll say something one day, and then back completely away from it the next.

It's puzzling, and alarming.

10. There probably are investigations going on all the time that we don't hear about.

Public officials get threats from cranks and crackpots all the time. But whether someone gets arrested depends on the nature of the threat and whether there appears to be some possibility the threat could be carried out. If I, an infamously harmless old lady who owns no weapons and has no criminal record, post some hostile and vaguely threatening remark about an official on Facebook, I might be questioned by law enforcement but that would probably be the end of it. If, however, some bubba who's been busted for assault charges and illegal possession of explosives and who owns a collection of automatic weapons posts a specific threat about doing in a particular public official, that person is in for a whole lot more scrutiny. We don't hear about these things unless someone is actually arrested and prosecuted.

public so we can see what is going on.

I think that such death threats, most of which are very unlikely to be carried out, have become so common that many public figures simply ignore them at this point. I think that's a mistake, actually. I think each and every one should be turned over to the authorities and made public so we can all see what is going on.

These days, even ordinary people who are not public figures receive such threats if someone disagrees with them. That tends to damp down the expression of opinions. Nobody wants a death threat in their email or on their social media feed. Many people simply refuse to state their opinions out of fear of such threats. That's why they are made so often - to silence people.
