There is a word that defines what Trump and the Republicans are trying to put in place.

Tyranny, Complete government control, run by a dictator. The Democrats should start using this word when talking about Trump and the Republicans because it's the truth.

Republicans have never been shy with their disdain for a two party system of checks and balances. They want to rule over you, with no restraint.

Dominance requires submission. Our real threat is passivity.

We won't submit. We are not masochists. It should occur to them that we have something real and noble to uphold and it is worth preserving and even strengthening and expanding.

If we reframe it, half the country is not submitting. Those are good numbers to me and aren't we glad we are not just a few.

Our solidarity is important and we can take strength from the kind of numbers we do have right now. Our momentum is certainly building and, rather than having a false sense of security, we can have a confidence in our stance and direction. I think it helps us to reframe that as I demonstrated because fear and blame is detrimental to the cause.

Not that I am making any direct comparison, I recall a time when half the country, pretty much, wanted something and lost big time and even put up a big fight, and they still grumble about it. That's the precedence and our attitude and perspective really matters even more than that of our opponents here. They seem to be revealing their own flaws and vulnerabilities, that is, if you examine the behavior carefully.

However, history tells us when so many people of a nation lose their way, it takes great sacrifice and pain to correct it, to get through it. In the end we will be a stronger nation. The question is, what will be the cost

Yale holocaust historian Timothy Snyder warned us in his book "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons From The Twentieth Century" in 2017.

He told us what to look for and how to live. Almost three years ago.
