Hello, I am writing as a constituent and deeply concerned citizen. Please give the important upcoming issues surrounding the presidential impeachment the objective attention it demands and deserves. As a juror in several trials in my life, I was able to put aside any prejudice and judge the evidence on merit. I have always striven to follow judges' instructions. You must do the same. Do not vote for any sham procedures or on party lines for the sake of party. Do your constitutional duty like any good citizen and any ethical Senator should. Many are watching. Make sure your mark in history is on the side of truth.
Thank you,
Thank you,

Dear Kali,
Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts regarding the President Trumps phone call with the president of Ukraine and the impeachment inquiry in the House of Representatives. I appreciate your thoughts on this important matter.
As you may know, in August 2019, an individual filed a complaint with the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community concerning a phone call between President Trump and President Zelensky of Ukraine. On September 24, 2019, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that the U.S. House of Representatives would initiate an impeachment inquiry. That same day, I voted with 99 of my Senate colleagues to urge the White House to release the whistleblower complaint. On September 25, the White House provided the complaint to members of Congress in classified form. The complaint was declassified and made available to the public the next day.
I take conversations regarding impeachment seriously. Impeachment is a grave sanction and a process that should not be considered lightly or for political gain. Recently, I cosponsored the Graham resolution to encourage a fair, bipartisan, and open impeachment process in the House. The resolution calls on the House of Representatives to call a formal recorded vote to proceed on the impeachment inquiry, provide President Trump with due process, and allow members of the minority to participate fully in proceedings. These are important steps to ensure legitimacy in the impeachment process, and prioritize facts over partisan politics. I will continue to monitor all relevant facts and investigations regarding the whistleblower report and impeachment inquiry and will consider articles of impeachment should the House send them to the Senate.
In the meantime, it is vital that Congress continues to work on issues that affect peoples daily lives. I will continue to work with my colleagues in the Senate to find solutions to difficult issues like lowering outof-pocket costs of health care, securing the border, and rebuilding our military. Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the impeachment inquiry, and rest assured I will keep your thoughts in mind as the issue develops.
As the 116th Congress addresses the many challenges facing our nation, I hope you will continue to share your thoughts and concerns. To keep up with my work in Congress, you can follow me on Twitter and Facebook, or visit my website at mcsally.senate.gov where you can sign up to receive my e-newsletter. Again, thank you for sharing your concerns. Please continue contacting my office regarding issues that you feel are important to you and Arizona.
Sincerely,
Martha McSally
