Judge rules Wisconsin must remove 234,000 from voter rolls
Roughly 234,000 voters are to be removed from Wisconsin's rolls because they may have moved recently, a county judge ruled Friday.
Ozaukee County Judge Paul Malloy instructed the Wisconsin Elections Commission to "abide by state law" in removing the voters, the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, a conservative law firm that filed a legal complaint that led to the ruling, said Friday.
Reid Magney, a spokesman for the elections commission, told CNN the group plans to meet and will discuss "next steps," including whether to appeal the decision.
In a state viewed as a battleground in 2020, the removal of 234,000 voters from the rolls could have profound implications. In 2016, President Donald Trump won Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes through defeating Hillary Clinton by less than 23,000 votes.

(25,861 posts)if the voters have moved. They should be registered at their new addresses. Also, when was the last time any of them voted? If it was more than 6 years ago, chances are they aren't really going to vote from this address.
It really is up to the voters to vote and to maintain their registration at their current address.

(1,379 posts)So this isnt as big of a deal as everyone here is making it!
If a voter gets to the polls and they arent on the rolls, they simply go into a different line, reregister, then go to vote immediately. Its a real vote, not a provisional vote, so no harm, no foul.
As Poindexter points out, this is a benefit to the parties to have as clean as rolls as possible!
In another State it may be a problem, but not in Wisconsin!
Use the updated rolls to our advantage and get out the vote! Dont waste valuable time on people who may have moved.

(15,332 posts)have tons of leisure time during normal work days to just get in another line.
We should be fighting to make it easier to vote, NOT just parroting Retrumplican talking points about non-existent in person voter fraud, and how; "oh, it's no big deal... just get in another line..."

(1,379 posts)If its important enough to vote, they should have taken the time to return the postcard.
Ill make it easier for them by driving them to the polls, waiting for them, etc.
Or ask them to check to rolls before voting day, and reregister ahead of time if needed, but at some point individuals must take a little responsibility and go a little out of there way.
They have 10 months to make sure they are still on the rolls, and we can help them with that, but this ruling will not prevent anyone from voting that truly wants to vote!
