Joe Manchin told me that he's "very much torn" about whether to vote to convict Trump on both counts.

"We have a divided country. On the other hand. we have equal branch of governments, responsibilities in the Constitution. There are a lot of things at stake here.“

Sen. Manchin, why did you run for election? You won your race, and that means you're sitting in the big chair. Not someone else like Don Blankenship; YOU. Sooner or later, you knew you were going to face a tough decision, whether to honor your oath of office or pander to the oaf in the Oval Office. Yeah, you could lose some votes by doing the right thing by your oath and the Constitution. You could also restore a small amount of credibility to a badly damaged political system. You call it divided, and I'll agree with you. But divided between what and what?

If you can't make the case for the Constitution, maybe you're in the wrong line of work. The party needs all the Democrats in office we can get; but even more than that, the country needs elected officials who will uphold their oath of office.

Otherwise, the asshole-in-chief not only gets away with serious stuff, he’ll be in full party mode in 2020.

Christ, if I were younger, I’d immigrate to New Zealand as fast as a guaranteed job and the accompanying paperwork could be pushed through.

If 45 is re-elected with Russian interference and other assorted tactics, the known U.S. will be in a death-spiral, and a fully fascist country will emerge from the ashes. We’re halfway there already. Republicans would LOVE to completely ditch democracy, fluff up the bums of the mega-rich, and exist in a theocratic oligarchy ruled by an autocrat.

I’d relocate to Vancouver in a flash. Unfortunately, I’m of retirement age, and no country wants “oldies” who are just going to suck up the benefits.

In some cases, you can invest huge sums of money in a country’s government to live there. Although Australia discontinued “investor immigration” just a few years ago; New Zealand still has one in place. For now.

Should the fascists win, my wife and I are considering moving to a condo in Hawaii. It’s still the U.S., but somewhat removed, and loaded with breathtaking distractions.

they will primary him to death and if he survives the DNC should support the GOP candidate-Manchin should not be allowed to use his seat to shit on basic decency and if that's what we are going to get I'd rather lose the seat than let Trump "support" be called bipartisan.

He almost 80 and even if he does run for reelection Trump will not be President by then as he just won reelection last year. If he votes to acquit Trump that is not acceptable and he should finally be primaried.

He's up again in 2024, let's hope Trump won't still be there, but he could be. If he wins next year, he would be there until January 20, 2025.
