the only thing left open in the dead mall (it's highrise apartments now). Defiantly, they took over the mall's main marquee, which said with a kind of pathetic pride: "SEARS: WE ARE STILL OPEN"

My folks were doing some Friday evening shopping, but I had other plans. Fortunately, the hospital was nearby.
About 15 years ago, my wife and I were shopping at the same Sears, but she didnt go into labor, which would have made this tale interesting. But we did buy a Dyson vacuum.
RIP Sears.
