On 9/11/2001, nineteen Saudis attacked the United States and brought down the World Trade Center. So George W. Bush attacked Iraq instead.
In Pensacola, a Saudi killed three sailors and Trump is already acting as the defense attorney for Mohammad bin Salman, the murderous king of Saudi Arabia, before the FBI report is even out.
Plus, the U.S. is teaching Saudis to fly while they are bombing civilian populations in Yemen.
We don't need Saudi oil, so what makes Saudi Arabia so special? Is someone getting paid off? Blackmailed? Is it because they pay billions to American arms manufacturers? Beats me.

They fight with each other over power and control over oil resources. We pick sides so we can secure access in the long run.

(15,051 posts)but we still import from Mexico, Canada and Venezuela. Saudi Arabia supplies just 11% which can easily be replaced elsewhere.

(3,433 posts)Like it or not (good plan or bad), we import from elsewhere because...
1) It keeps our limited reserves as a source of last resort. We have it when everyone else runs out. Pump over there before we pump here.
2) We have American companies with global customers, so our "companies" sell to more than just American buys.
3) It can be cheaper to buy from over there so those global markets determine who we buy from. We don't just "buy American" at any price.
