A note on expert witness testimony --- if they're mad, you're winning.

If you have ever testified as an expert, you know that the more contentious and angry the proceeding becomes with your testimony, the better you're doing.

Nothing but angry Republicans on the TV. Enjoy the show.

they start spitting and sputtering. Ask them to repeat their question and you can see the color change. The best is when they try leading and you don't follow.

That is extremely important. In fact, any witness who gets angry under questioning -- no matter how obnoxious -- has made a serious error.

Years ago, a hostile attorney was attempting to anger my uncle, who was an expert witness. The windbag got carried away on a long, run-on speech that ended with a stupid question. My uncle smiled at him and said, "I'm sorry. Could you repeat that?"

A wide shot of the chambers shows a ton of people in various shades of business-suit black/navy/gray.

And one big loud pink lollipop.

You don’t attend a somber buttoned-down business-day gathering dressed in hot pink on an East Coast wintry day - unless you want to make damn sure everybody’s looking at you.

I read something about Queen Elizabeth and her style of dress. Very strategic. Bright colors as often as possible. Sometimes VERY bright. Chartreuse and/or fuchsia and/or vivid blue and/or yellow. Or something. Because when she goes out in public, she WANTS to be seen. She WANTS her subjects and all other onlookers to be able to see her, spot her, pick her out in a crowd.

Obviously the Minority Counsel is on the same wavelength. This was HUGELY strategic. She also wants to be a distraction. You don’t wear a loud look-at-me color like hot pink unless that’s what you want everybody around you to do. And because of the construction of the bodice, it suggests this is a dress and not part of a skirted suit. I didn’t see any jacket slung over the back of her chair. Did anybody see one? That, too, suggests it’s a hot pink dress. Which means she wanted a full-body visual trumpet blast of nearly blinding hot pink.

That’s quite a visual battle tactic. Interesting attempt to assert dominance.

Just my read on things. I’m a student of body language, subliminal messaging, and visual cues.

The day then-South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley presided over the taking down of the Confederate flag in the big public square shortly after those nine church people were mowed down by that young white supremacist DURING their evening Bible study group into which they welcomed him a few minutes before he slaughtered them!

A few days later there were hundreds assembled for the expected removal of the Confederate flag. There were many wide shots of the scene from many cameras positioned all over the place, from ground to rooftop and all points in between. And you Could. Not. Miss. Nikki. Haley. You could have spotted her from orbit! Why? Because amid all those somber mourners of the massacre at Mother Emanuel Church, and city officials and other dignitaries on hand to attend a VERY somber and historic moment in South Carolina history, there was Nikki. Dressed in BLINDING white. She stuck out like a sore thumb the size of Olympus Mons. You not only picked her out in the crowd in half a second, you risked burning a cornea as one might if one gazed bare-eyed at an eclipse. It was either a white suit or a dress and jacket. NEON WHITE, especially by comparison to that sea of somber people in funereal dark-colored clothing.

Trust me. She did that deliberately. That was strategic. She was doing a Queen Elizabeth - making damn sure that she'd be easily seen, and quickly picked out of that crowd.

I immediately assumed that, since she'd logged I think a couple of terms as governor without too much complication, she knew she'd be moving on to some new gig. And she telegraphed that she expected it to be a big new gig, maybe even something that would set her up for the gig AFTER that big new one she'd be graduating into next. Maybe even put her on the path to the Presidency. I remember thinking - "she wants to be President. (AND she thinks this order-the-hate-rag-taken-down gesture will win her a lot of good will and eventual votes.)" I remember thinking - MAAAAANNNNNNN does she ever want to be seen out there! She wants BIGTIME credit for this. She does NOT want ANYBODY to forget she was there that day, presiding over that.

Ambassador Sondland is being thrown under the bus. Gym Jordan just basically said the Democrats are building their entire case on the one witness that had to revise his statement 3 times. Ambassador Sondland.

I hope Sondland feels like he got his monies worth. From my vantage point, I'd say he is getting screwed.
