Sorry but I REFUSE to use PUTIN'S acronym for the KGB

Anyway, yeah, they changed that so we would fall for it, not falling for it. KGB is still alive and well, simply called something else.

The FSB and the SVR. The FSB is what runs the overseas ratfuckery (with some help from the GRU), so I don't see what's wrong with calling it by the name it's had for almost 30 years now.

They really weren't trying to fool anybody.

Might as well call the Cheka, if you're going to go that route.

Or perhaps the tsar's secret police.

There were also the whole '90s, where Russia was bad at having anything like the KGB. El'tsin just wasn't that tough-minded when it came to the West.
