Point of personal privilege.

On MSNBC, Pete Williams just said that two of the servicemen wounded at Pensacola today "weren't badly hurt", because one was shot in the arm, and one was shot in the knee.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suppose that Mr.Williams has never been shot. I can tell him with absolutely certainty that it "hurts badly" wherever the fuck you get shot.

I worked as an EMT way back in the 80s. I agree with your assessment. It's not like the movies, that's for sure.

I assume he meant that it was unlikely to be life threathening.

This reminds me of the RW nuts who claimed that Kerry should not have gotten 3 purple hearts because he was not "injured enough". They basically said the the same thing about Alex Vindman.

Trump actually received a Purple Heart

Today, a Donald Trump supporter handed him a Purple Heart. Trump’s flippant and repugnant reply: “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier.”

Dubya accepted a Purple Heart for his "emotional wounds and scars"

President Bush, no fan of irony, will soon be receiving a Purple Heart for the "emotional wounds and scars" he has suffered as commander-in-chief during the Iraq War, a gift from someone who actually served in Vietnam rather than dodging the draft.

I don’t care if it was given to him. That SLUG didn’t do one goddam thing to deserve one of those! My Dad served in 3 wars and didn’t get one of those even though he was in the Brinks Hotel in Vietnam when it was bombed on Christmas Eve. Very minor injury and even he said it was not a big deal. My Dad is way more deserving then that asshole!

"Shot in the knee" means sooner or later a new titanium & stainless steel knee. If they're lucky.

I have been shot...in the chest, through my lung and hit T5....6-7 days before I felt anything...but when I did......I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
I wish my injury was in the arm or leg if I had to get an injury as an active Naval member.
As a Member of the Military(me, finished enlistment)...we know we there are dangers.

But, we need to downplay the impact, so we don't annoyf MBS.
