Do you think Elsa Chang and Mary Louise Kelly sound like they're talking to toddlers?

These All Things Considered hosts, along with a couple on our local NPR station make me crazy. When/why did this start? Their voices go up and down like they're trying to cojole 3 year olds to get interested in something. Do you agree?

They also sound a little too 'sunny' on important and meaningful topics. I have noticed this with climate change articles/interviews.

... but I don't think this is what they're doing. They're not going to the lowest vocal range. They're "chirping", like you do with little kids or cute kittens.
