I live in L.A. and I own a very successful boutique in the heart of the entertainment community..Believe me there might be more people working but most of the new workers which are increasing job numbers are not adding to the economy'...
They are simply working a 40 hr week, come home and barely make ends meet. Rents, Md Bills, food prices the list could go on and on...The skinny? few living L.A. are spending money at restaurants (closing all over the place) Huge corporate big box retailers are also closing fast.. High End Ones as well.
The numbers are breath-taking.. Full list of retailers closing stores...Some of them have not closed all their stores....but the consequences to our economy are gonna be horrible..
I posted this info because of all the praise Trump is receiving today from "great economic gains" Bullshit!!
Take a look..

Far higher than most other states
A big problem the state needs to address

(8,515 posts)They come out to seek entertainment jobs but as you mentioned cost is out of control. Primarily housing... 3 and 4 try to live together in a single unit apt.. I hear of more and more situations like this .. Primary reason why they can't stay.. Too difficult.

(100,081 posts)It's easy to see why the economy is in the state it's in right now. Rent is increasingly escalating and completely out of control, which is a huge contributor to the retail apocalypse and the housing and homeless crisis. We have to do something about how much rent is.

(8,515 posts)I fully agree with you.. It's terrible..but thats what happens when certain parts of the country are very attractive for young college job seekers.. Obviously the entertainment industry is a huge calling card for the hopeful.. Until they check out the rents...They try living together in a shared environment...3or 4 to a 1 bedroom unit.. Hardly ever works out
