My grandmother was born in 1888. I can remember as a child in grade school when I learned that her birthday was also the date of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I know I said to her "I learned you were born on Pearl Harbor Day" and she replied that the attack on Pearl Harbor happened on her birthday, she came first. Pretty sure something clicked in my head that day about chronology and history.

(32,645 posts)It's good for us to have happy recollections of our grandparents, and some even remember great-grandparents. Sadly the younger generation seems to be losing touch with their older relatives.

(14,811 posts)My Grandmother's birthday was the day after mine, and my Dad's was a week after mine. When I was around 5 or 6 I worked it out that I must be a day older than Grandma & a week older than Dad. They sure got a kick out of it when I explained it to them.
