I understand the politics of having to focus on *US* national security...

...but I think the far worse part of Trump's crime was the harm done to Ukraine.

Even Trump's failed attempt to extort Ukraine has threatened Ukrainian lives and Ukrainian freedom from Russian takeover. A strong show of US support was desperately needed to help stave off Putin's clear desire to takeover the entire country, and Ukraine did not get that support.

Many lives have already been lost, and many more would be lost in a Russian invasion. And hell would be unleashed on all Ukrainians who have actively resisted Russian influence after a takeover.
