comparing Michelle and Ann. Mika said what we all thought: Ann was awkward and knew her speech was bombing when she "screamed 'I love you women!'"
Far from all the previous hype about how great Ann's outreach to women was, that line was just plain embarrassing. Off the wall. In fact, I thought Ann was feeling the exact opposite: she couldn't wait to get off the stage, away from those frowsy women in their cheap clothes, and back to her country club set, playing tennis at the club with people who can "understand" her problems and stresses...
Thank you, Mika! For once, you nailed it perfectly...

(63,912 posts)but the look of disgust on Mika's face spoke volumes...the fact that she said "screamed" was gratifying to me!

(15,247 posts)She must have come across "awkward" in a vocabulary building program and it stuck with her.

(63,912 posts)I mean, when Mika said it. Before that, everyone had been very nicey-poo about Ann's scream...

(60 posts)I totally agree with you..Michelle comes off as soo genuine where Ann looked desperate. I love you women?? Who says that?? Once again who is more in touch with the country the Obamas or the Romney's...simple Obama's!! BO2012!!

(63,912 posts)I think Mika is right. It was too strange to be a planned thing.
Mika also said Ann's speech was poorly written. She said Ann needed better speech writers...of course a better message might help too, but that's not going to happen...

I love you women?? Who says that??That was my thought, too: "who says that?" It's so weird!
My interpretation of it, however, was that she had been told the campaign was in trouble with women and she had to mend the fence, so in her strange republican mind, the way to mend that fence was to tell them she loved them.
What if the men of the rmoney campaign came out and said, "We love you men!"

on edit: I hadn't seen what Colbert said when I wrote this about "I love you men."

(22,165 posts)The Republicans scream it, as if that makes up for their sorry pandering with empty rhetoric and abusive policies.

(14,087 posts)And put a similar comparison with Obama and Rmoney in the ad, and just keep airing it. ESPECIALLY in the south where I live.

(32,748 posts)Not only did she fail to get women on board, she managed to offend and repulse millions with her simplistic view of what it takes to attract women. She's injected herself into the campaign and is now fair game.

(26,659 posts)That is an actual line from an American's for Prosperity anti Obama ad in NC... but Ann says "I love you women!" Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be an American.
