(16,927 posts)you think they can't?
Between the gerrymandering, court appointments, and foot-dragging legislative action (excepting "voter-rights issues" - that is to say, "eliminating them" ) - that would just be a tempting challenge for the F**KING thieves!

(25,861 posts)registration a couple of times between now and November 3, 2020. In too many places the registrations have a habit of disappearing.
But that's a huge number of new voters. I see that about 16 million voters are currently registered there.

(3,056 posts)Just because they got tagged outside the supermarket to get registered (I've done it...it's a good time!), doesn't mean they'll show up to vote. And when the wrong person in the office gets hold of the paperwork, somehow they never get entered into the system.

(45,447 posts)since the other side will be spewing lies to discourage them and suppress them whenever they can like limiting polling places near college campuses and minority neighborhoods. They will go all in on challenging the citizenship of every person of color who tries to vote, even liberal looking whites.
blue wave!

(1,850 posts)I know quite a few folks who are not that politically involved but definitely plan to vote next year. I believe there will be a blue wave, even a tsunami!
The voter suppression and vote tampering are big concerns, but in the end I believe there are more of "us" than them and they won't be able to suppress enough votes to win.

(10,006 posts)Ive never had any trouble voting here, but just to be safe I wanted proof of registration the day I voted. As someone who always votes in every election, and a senior citizen to boot, Im not a likely target for voter suppression. Here in Travis County we finally have new voting machines that create a paper record. Good riddance to the ones that were flipping votes to Ted Cruz when someone voted a straight Democratic ticket. I dont know if other counties have gotten rid of their same machines.
What good news about new registrations here. Perhaps in the next 11+ months we can register another 2.5 million people. Having Texas go blue would be oh so sweet!

(42,770 posts)You dial your choice in and hit enter. Antiquated as hell. That they switched votes to Cruz was investigated and deemed user error. The county bought in 2005 with Help America Vote funding. But no money now. Surprise surprise.

Hopefully, all these newly registered voters will follow thru on their duty to actually VOTE!

W'ell vote the massive orange traitor out of our white house.

(58,785 posts)Others will not vote at all because they can't vote Republican and won't vote Democrat.
Remember, just like liberalism, conservatism is both hardwired into our personalities and an environmental/nurture product. That goes for everyone, including young people and minorities.
On the happy side, we should net significantly more votes than the climate-denying Russian Asset Party.
