Congratulations on the successful completion of your annual trip around the Sun.

(3,957 posts)When I first met my now-husband and told him that my BD was December 21st, he said "That's my favorite day of the year." I thought to myself, Wow! this guy is smooth. Turns out he was telling the truth because after that the days start getting longer and we both love summer. We've been together 25 wonderful years.
Happy Solstice everyone!

It was ours first. I find the "keep Christ in Christmas" nonsense laughable. They might as well say, "We can steal the holiday, but no one else can!"

(4,165 posts)I said Merry Christmas back to her. Then i added And Happy Winter Solstice to you. I immediately saw the confusion on her face and said Tomorrow the days get longer for the next six months.
Seriously, I smiled and I don't know if she was insulted or totally unaware as to what a solstice is.
I tried.
