Nunes billed taxpayers $63,000 for a jaunt to Europe chasing fraudster Lev Parnas' disinformation

Lev Parnas, an indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani, helped arrange meetings and calls in Europe for Rep. Devin Nunes in 2018, Parnas’ lawyer Ed MacMahon told The Daily Beast.

Nunes aide Derek Harvey participated in the meetings, the lawyer said, which were arranged to help Nunes’ investigative work. MacMahon didn’t specify what those investigations entailed.

Nunes is the top Republican on the House committee handling the impeachment hearings—hearings where Parnas’s name has repeatedly come up.

Congressional records show Nunes traveled to Europe from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, 2018. Three of his aides—Harvey, Scott Glabe, and George Pappas—traveled with him, per the records. U.S. government funds paid for the group’s four-day trip, which cost just over $63,000.

Say you want to fly first class, probably $5,000 to $8,000
Then you want to stay in a hotel that costs $500 per night (another $2,000, plus a lot of vodka from the mini-fridge)
And then you eat meals each evening at a fancy restaurant at $250 a head (another $1,000). A bottle of Cristal each, add $300 per person.

Naw, even with ground transport, I can't get it quite up to $15,000 a person.

You can find round-trip flights to Europe for $800 or so, if you plan and look. You can find nice hotels in the $150-$200 range. You can eat good food without spending a fortune. Walking is free, museums are a minimal charge, public transportation abounds ... you don't have to spend $15,000 dollars.

I love how they talk about taxpayer money from both sides of their mouths.

Republicans claim it’s good to withhold funds earmarked and approved for Ukraine aid, because they need to ensure that the taxpayers hard earned dollars are spent wisely. But then they can blow thousands of dollars on a lavish political junket and not blink twice. What about our hard earned dollars this time?

It makes me wonder how many other unnecessary trips, dinners and hotel stays the taxpayers have been billed for over the last three years.

I wonder if Nunes’ visit included a stay in Trump’s Scotland resort? That could explain the exorbitant price.

I have accountability on my job. Where is the accountability for these assholes? And these are the same people who would strip NECESSARY services from the public because there are no funds while wasting tax payer money for fucking nonsense.

Again, where can I send a bill for a refund?

I work in addiction medicine and mental health. We get LIMITED funding for services. Funding runs out every year for how many people we can service and provide medication for who want to get on medication to help with opioid addiction. And this asshole is jaunting around the world chasing his fucking tail.

Not only did they go but it was strategically planned between the Democrats winning the House election and when the took charge.

This enabled the repugs to hide the trip from the scrutiny of new house leadership.
