He's the best for breaking news, and a workhorse for MSNBC. His voice is smooth and kind of sexy. I enjoy when he pitches in.

(842 posts)No, he is NOT a professor, but I see him that way.
I admire the way he can break down difficult concepts to an understandable level. (Not everyone can do that easily). I particularly like his use of simplified charts and graphs in order to teach---sometimes we need that extra clarity to understand the unfamiliar. That feeling of "you know what, I get it!" (a good feeling whether you are 7---or 70 years old.)
Those who love to learn, need good teachers!
Thank you, Ali!

(4,218 posts)When he gets someone in a gotcha moment he doesnt spike the ball, he just takes that information and explains it to the viewer. Not flashy, just informative. Always watch if hes filling in during prime time.

(1,160 posts)I swear I've seen him late morning, afternoon and at night filling in for LO all in the same day. They must have some room reserved for him so that he can sleep and get up and do it all again.
I love him too.

(3,568 posts)A salute to Sham though. A great horse who had the misfortune of being Secretatiat's contemporary.

(4,919 posts)... But, my father made me watch Secretariat's Belmont race. He told I would be watching history, I should remember the moment, and I did. I've rewatched this race many times with chills each time, and I would recommend the Disney movie about Secretariat. The recreation of this race in that movie is a filmmaking technical achievement and quite emotional. Recently, I had the privilege of befriending a Cuban immigrant who owned race horses before he came to America after the Cuban Missile Crisis. We met at a dog park in NYC, and he shared his love of animals with me for a brief few years until he passed away... So, I reconsidered my feelings about horse racing. Based on your comment, I'm going to look into Sham's history.
My Dad didn't normally force me to watch TV, but he did that day. He also woke me up early in the morning/night when I was three years old to watch the moon landing, and again to sit in front of the TV with my cassette tape recorder microphone to record the Nixon resignation.
Sorry to be so off topic, but I've been posting/venting on DU a bit for the last couple of days while I wait for some hopefully good news. Thank you all for indulging me.

(5,299 posts)I fell in love with him the time I heard him say:
"Barack Obama is not a Kenyan Muslim. I am a Kenyan Muslim, and he wasn't at the meetings."
