(23,317 posts)is that the MF found Biden such a threat. Were so early in the primary process and anything can happen. Was the MF just that insecure? Wait, dont answer that. But seriously...all this trouble and all of these minions agreeing to undermine Joe Biden via his sons appointment to Burisma which isnt that different from appointments that a lot of children of people of political influence receive...all of these people doing the MFs bidding for what? For WHAT?
TwilightZone
(25,471 posts)was very bad for Trump in a head-to-head matchup with Biden. So bad that they had to try to bribe a foreign government to make up stuff on him to get him out ASAP.
The problem for Trump is that everyone, including his own staff and advisors, knew the Ukraine stuff was nonsense. And, yet, Trump was desperate (or dumb) enough to pursue it anyway.

(19,564 posts)Trump wants to destroy him via Hunter because of how he hates Obama. It's literally a by association thing. He just didn't realize it might be brought into the light of day, but he deeply wanted to put a shame on the Obama legacy via Biden.

(14,752 posts)They can refer him to the ethics committee, but all they can do is censure him and issue findings.
Usually a caucus polices its own members. But the gop has not been doing that of late.
Of course, if this were illegal (it is), the sdny could drag him before a grand jury, but not under barr.

(14,967 posts)someone the Dems can trust to say what he claims he will say when it is actually time to testify.
But maybe these claims can be used to start an investigation of Nunes which develops evidence independent of Parnas. The GrOPers will go "poisoned tree fruit!!!1!" route on that, but maybe it's worth a shot anyway. I'm not sure.

I admit, I don't understand what is 1) impeachable vs 2) what's in the courts vs 3) what no one is delving into.

(19,564 posts)He believes he can bring down shame on his administration by throwing mud on Biden.
There's literally zero guarantee Biden is his running mate at this point, let alone when he started this smear campaign. Why risk so much to destroy someone who very likely won't be your opponent other than personal vengeance?

(4,007 posts)had just won the House majority but didn't yet get sworn in. In that time period, as the Repubs still held the not-in-session House, he evaded the detail requirement. Had he taken that trip later and after we took over, the rules on his trip and needed disclosures changed markedly.
Question 1: since we know he's thick as a brick, who told him to go in this relatively short time period? Trump? Maybe but nah, not directly as Trump can't even find the bathroom in the WH. His personal or WH lawyers? Maybe. Most likely: a fellow House member who knew the rules well. Any guesses?
Question 2: I noted that Nunes' did a lot of reading of prepared opening and closing statements and thereafter literally handed off all his time to the Repub lawyer or that dunce Gym Jordan. Who drafted, wrote, edited and supplied some pretty well written yet mostly false allegations in those statements? Could NOT have been Cowman! Was it the WH lawyers? Trump's personal attorneys (not including overly verbose and often wrong Ghouliani)? Wasn't their loser of a committee hearing lawyer as he would have done ti himself. Perhaps some RNC operatives? Again, any guesses?
