#DavidHolmes' expression immediately after defending #MarieYovanovitch. His evanescent thinned lips, tightened midface, flared nostrils, clenched jaw, & forward jaw jut all demonstrate Anger. David Holmes' Sincerity Quotient is very high.

(53,410 posts)Body language comprises a huge amount of what constitutes communication, just like crying, laughing, tone and sharpness or gentleness in the sound does. Visual cues are a huge indicator of the state of mind of the person. An intimidated person and one who feels confidence is very easy to distinguish. Have you ever been irritated by someone who smirks at you? If you have youre reading their body language.
Anyone, even children can tell the difference between the look on someones face. They learn the difference between a smiling face and one of anger as well as the sound of their voice.
Even animals who are pets learn to read body and facial language.

But you're right that it is very much a form of communication.

(53,410 posts)He wasnt pretending to be outraged he exhibited visual cues that he up to his eyebrows in self-pity. It was actually quite obvious that he had no self control in exposing his emotions. He threw a fit for anyone to see. There was no pretense about how he was feeling.
Lindsey Graham was the one who put on an act and it was false and there are various body and facial cues that gave him away.

(53,410 posts)Hes a frat boy accustomed to getting away with his adolescent behavior. He was criticized for it and he was outraged that anyone would dare. Hes ALWAYS been given a pass so he feels hes special and entitled to misbehave. There is no doubt in his mind that he misbehaved. There is only outrage that anyone would call him on it. The words coming out of his mouth were lies, but his body language wasnt.

It's like armchair psychiatry.

(53,410 posts)other peoples body language when you interact with them or you observe them? Can you tell when someone is feeling anger, fear, or confidence and do you believe your own interpretations both in body language and psychological cues? If you do then youre an armchair analyst, unless you are an actual psychiatrist.

It would be amazing to get to work with people like Holmes and Yovanovitch.

(15,290 posts)gave testimony that was new and different. His job was to follow and track the internal politics of Ukraine, to keep his eyes and ears attuned to it all so we could know how to fine tune our foreign policy wrt it. I found his opening statement intersting and compelling.
