(5,316 posts)...she can go fuck herself.
mr_lebowski
(33,643 posts)Potentially, anyway ... that's also assuming she knows he was not buzzed in ...
Lot of assumptions I suppose ...
Maybe I should've said it's possible based on the video alone that this is a scenario where he probably shoulda gone ahead and done so ... but I'm not sure.

(11,348 posts)that a random tenant has the right to enforce security or trespassing concerns on their own authority either.
Unless this is a case where someone "followed" her into a secure lobby .. in which case, tenants are definitely told "do NOT let other people in!"

(29,322 posts)She is clearly escalating this. Sorry he didn't have any perfect answers the ones he was giving weren't good enough for her.

(29,322 posts)He even said she lived on the 2nd floor. He didn't have a good enough answer for her. I wouldn't accuse someone of lying without proof, that isn't a proper way to have a conversation and falsely accusing people of stuff does nothing to improve the conversation but makes it worse.

(33,643 posts)that she doesn't know that she spots entering the building ... and therefore declare her as a racist?
That seems like a fairly mighty talent.
Or is there new information apart from the video that I've not seen (very possible I admit)?

mr_lebowski
(33,643 posts)for example ... only that she was an annoying NIMBY busy-body, very common among both cons and liberals in the Bay Area, where I'm from.
She was also quite right in the point that it's illegal to use a charcoal grill in the spot that the folks were doing so.
She's probably gone through a ton of agonizing grief since the episode ... without anyone coming up with evidence of her being racist, at least not that I've ever heard (I may not have heard, granted).
Just sayin', I'm not jumping to the racist conclusion w/o more evidence.

(68,643 posts)I also think calling the police on a Black man or woman is potentially life threatening given some of the horrific outcomes we have seen. I have a daughter who was dating a young man of color, and after being out with him, I can tell you, he was treated like shit in stores, restaurants or just parking his car in the driveway...our across the street neighbor told me she knew he was liar because he was Black...and our daughter he claimed to be dating was white...my response....please remove you racist person from my driveway and don't come back unless you apologize to this young man.

(33,643 posts)unless I was told his name, which I'm assuming he did not give.
Ergo, without his race being obvious by sight ... it's kinda hard to sustain a 'racism' claim in this instance ... IMHO.
So I'll just do me
On edit: OTOH the man and his kids look decisively nice/non-threatening ... so this ... lady ... definitely has issues with judgement. Nobody goes out robbing places with little kids FFS.
Demsrule86
(68,643 posts)behavior? I have seen this before.

(33,643 posts)If I can't tell, I would assume at least some others would not be able to tell.
Not ready to brand the woman a racist, I'd need more evidence. Sorry.
YOU can, as you've clearly done. Go head on, you do you, etc ...
Edit: I'm NOT necessarily 'excusing the behavior', the only way this was 'okay' is if she KNEW he wasn't buzzed in/used a key. But it's not okay no matter what the race of the person ... she's a weirdo, IMHO. That's not how I'd handle the situation at all.

Is that what triggered her?

(68,643 posts)citizens from Puerto Rico have such an accent. And no matter what. This woman could have called security or she could have done a host of other things rather than acting in such a disrespectful manner. Clearly, this looks like racial profiling.

(52,166 posts)Clearly this is a secure, buzz in building of some sort. He never says my aunt buzzed me in leading me to think he followed her in. If that is the case, then it is her business to keep him out until he shows he belongs. People live in those types of building for a reason namely security.
JonLP24
(29,322 posts)She also accused him of not living there. You don't accuse people unless you have facts backing you up.
dsc
(52,166 posts)frankly if I lived in a secure building, a person who didn't live there followed me in claiming a relative lived there, but refused to give me their name, I wouldn't let them in either. For all we know a person was raped in that building or there were a string of robberies. People live in secure buildings for a reason.
JonLP24
(29,322 posts)I have seen this happen before and he was with his 2 kids.
I lived in a secure building before and it was annoying.

That is why there are door buzzers for the apartments outside and the tenants can buzz them in.
Do I think that woman was a little over the top, yes.
Do I think the guy should have respected apartment security protocols, yes.
Do I think the guy should have called his aunt or buzzed her apartment, yes.
Do I think the guy would be criming with a young boy and girl in tow, No.
Apparently, he didn't think there was a medical emergency, because once he got to her door, she was not home and he left.
