A robotic phone call: From Apple Support, your iCloud account has been breached

I hang up. Yesterday these calls came again and again within a couple of minutes. Finally, when we left home, the "caller" just left a message. So I figured as long as I pick up the phone it will start again. So this morning, after the first call we let the machine get it. Hope that we are done for today.

I do not trust robotic calls - except when they are reminders of a doctor appointment or from the pharmacy.

Recently we have been getting these robotic calls from the credit cards. Yes, I know, they all are robotic but at least they appear to be from live persons: Rachel, Carmen, flirting Emily. Even the recent "police officers foundation." (or something). I know it when the caller continues to talk even when I say - to the police officers foundation - that I am sorry, I cannot help.

But the recent obvious robocalls that sound so mechanic - why would anyone fall for them?

Oh, and about my ICloud account - might as well call me about my timeshare at a Trump property. Neither exists.

veteran's group I tell them no donation until they stop voting Republican because it's not the Democrats who have cut their funding over the years.

... as they follow their script.

"Hi! This is Emily at the Loan Department. I think my manager, John, already reached out to you? Anyway, I just wanted to follow up with you about the new, low rates we're able to offer. I'd love to talk with you whenever you have a chance. Please give me a call back at 123-4567, and, uh... let me go ahead and give you this reference number so when you call it makes things easier. That's 98765. I really look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!"

I had a dude call once and leave a message, VERY spontaneous and realistic -- "Hey, this is Mike with ABC Siding and we were working in your neighborhood..." -- and then a couple weeks later I got a call from a "different" guy -- "Hey, this is Jason with 123 Roofing and we were working in your neighborhood..." -- with a very similar script but the exact same voice actor. LOL
