because everything the whistleblower said has been testified to by multiple other people. If it were not for the right-wing crazies who might (make that *would*) harm this person and/or family, there's really no reason for Trump to demand identification, or, in a perfect world, to have to shield him/her.

In fact, except for RW revenge fantasies, it seems to me that there's no longer any reason for the whistleblower even to have to testify.
