Ghouliani bricks his iPhone - Not the Onion

The Register is always a good read -

As we noted at around the time Giuliani was named White House cybersecurity advisor in January 2017, not only does Rudy know nothing about the subject but his website - Giulianisecurity.com - was painfully out-of-date and wide open to hacking.

The fact that even after he was named as a key White House adviser Giuliani didn’t see any issue with turning up to an Apple Store and handing over his phone to effectively a complete stranger is not great.

2. My theory is that he did that so all data on the phone would be wiped.

If that's the same phone he was flashing and claiming it had all kinds of info on it, then I'm certain he had it wiped by pretending to have lost his password. That's what the Apple "Geniuses" do when they get a phone like that. "Poof! "You'll have to start over, see..."

5. Interesting, and a wily way to get the phone wiped and not be accused

of destroying evidence. Of course, considering the #ButtHisEmails debacle, you may be giving him too much credit.

all the stuff on it, the contents of his phone would probably be subpoenaed at some point. He can't have that, though, so he either loses the phone or gets it bricked and starts from scratch.

He's not a bright fellow, so someone probably explained that to him in one-syllable words.

I'm sure several people are explaining a lot of things to him in one-syllable words right now. He's being vewy, vewy quiet these days.

8. Yup. He has crawled into his cave and rolled a boulder in front of the door.

He knows he's screwed and that only Trump can save him with a pardon. I don't expect to hear much from him anytime soon.

He made that one last blustering statement while holding up his phone and bragging about all the stuff he had on it. Then, he was gone and out of sight, once the two clowns were arrested. He knows he's next, so he's virtually shredding whatever he can. I have no doubt about that at all.

However, he may well have said OK to backing up his phone to the Apple Cloud without knowing what that meant. Apple really wants you to do that, so I can see him just tapping OK when the option came up. I mean, who doesn't want a backup, after all? But, then, like almost everyone, he forgot about it completely. That option was presented to me on my Android, too, but I said, "Nope - not going to do that." There's nothing on my phone, anyhow, except some photos of my dogs. But, I don't send anything to any cloud.
