My neighbor friend had Polio at 16 and the one effect that remained was his speech.

We both sang in School Choir together which really help him regain his speech. Not perfect,but in the 1950's,one took what one could get.

A really underexamined facet of his bio was how he enlisted in the army in 1967 and was discharged in less than 6 months-supposedly for a minor "eye problem". You will have to google around but a unit clerk remarked "Yeah, he had an eye problem-he couldn't tell boys from girls..."

It is most unusual for a military record to be so contradictory. And why can't even one yeoman be found to corroborate or explain this inconsistency ? Most suspicious.
