(128,979 posts)The vote tomorrow will be for the House RULES for how the public hearings that are part of the impeachment inquiry will be handled - including how the questioning will proceed, who can do it, permissions for subpoenas for witnesses/documents, and other matters related to the operation of a hearing. As a note, the actual "ipeachment inquiry" is ALREADY ongoing. There is no "vote" needed for the existence of such.
The House Rules Committee has been doing a markup of the Rules resolution, including debate on amendments to the resolution language. They just got back from House votes and have started back up -

Washington (CNN)One of the seven House Democrats who had not made a public statement in support of launching an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump announced Wednesday he will back the House resolution formalizing the procedures of the investigation.
"While I disagreed with the initial decision to open the impeachment inquiry, it is clear that the investigation has confirmed information contained in the whistleblower complaint," Rep. Jared Golden of Maine said in a news release Wednesday. "For the good of our country and the public's understanding of the process, this investigation should no longer continue solely in a closed setting. Tomorrow, I'll vote to open up the House investigation to the American people."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced earlier this week a House vote planned for Thursday to formalize the procedures of the impeachment inquiry into Trump and Ukraine, marking what will be the first time the House will go on the record on the proceedings.
Golden, though, cautioned in his statement that his support for the resolution "does not indicate that I am in favor of impeaching the president."

(128,979 posts)There are some House Democrats who have made no "public" statements about their support but I have not heard of ANY who have outright insisted that they are "not voting for" proceeding with the investigation, where the resolution is spelling out how they will go forward with the public phase, including how the questioning will be formatted and who can subpoena, etc. They may be equivocating on what they would do with the final impeachment articles, but their cover being "let's first gather the info about the crimes that this President has committed and then go from there", makes sense for the constituents that they have to deal with.
