Nancy Pelosi?
Weve learned so much about Trumps months-long campaign to pressure Ukraine because military veterans & his own national security aides stood up to tell the truth. They put their country ahead of everything else. Its not too late for Republicans in Congress to do the same.

(10,721 posts)...to get us anywhere close to a bi-partisan impeachment and a Senate conviction.
Find audio of Trump swearing allegiance to Putin in exchange for Lord Vladimir not releasing kompromat and maybe - MAYBE - we'd get close to 20 Republican Senators to convict. Probably closer to 10, though.

(82,849 posts)Mostly during their public announcement that they're not running again in 2020 and retiring from politics. But not because Republicans are headed toward the political wilderness for the next decade or more, so stop saying that!

(22,124 posts)problem, then they are part of the problem, and cowards in leaving office w/o helping to fix this serious issue affecting the country and the making of laws, an illegally installed president, etc. I will always harp on this...they don't get a break just because they are leaving and if anything, the problem gets worse since they are leaving office, a rump harpie gets to run for that office then...

(11,308 posts)don't think there's any real expectation of genuine movement.
But .. like so many here have called for .. hold their selfish and callow character up to the light. The Speaker is playing to the people .. not the Repugs. And effectively I might add!

(11,885 posts)Got together to switch party because of trump and Moscow Mitch, the Senate Republicans would be out of power there, and prolong these republicans careers for their actions, stopping trump and putin's policies destroying our Democracy.

(8,964 posts)A year ago would have been more realistic for this, but a year out from the 2020 race seems unlikely. Some of them (Collins comes to mind) would have likely been in a better predicament re-election-wise had they done so long ago. At this point she either sinks or swims with the GOP-Trumpista label, hopefully the former.

(54,380 posts)"You can be a patriot and still be a Republican."
Operative word: "can." As in (unspoken) "but at the moment, there are only unpatriotic Republicans out there."
Ergo--she is subtly forcing them to say, "we are, too, patriots!"
Since fewer and fewer people are falling for that, this, in turn, opens them up for:
"THEN START ACTING LIKE IT FOR A CHANGE!"
(they won't, of course, and there lies the rub)

(7,528 posts)He blithered his conceited, entitled self into the Presidency, and he, of course, thinks he's going to *bully* other countries into making deals with him to make money and kick the ladder out from underneath on anyone who won't play ball. This is Reality TV logic like The Apprentice. This is not the type of diplomacy the USA has been trying to foster for hundreds of years. His behavior is the kind of thing our Forefathers specifically wrote laws to prevent.

(16,785 posts)He is so glued to Trump's ass, it's not funny.
But all of this will come back to blow up in his face. He already looks the fool. But Congressional Republicans do have a decision to make. Abandon ship or go down with it. Either way, they are screwed.
