A forensic pathologist hired by Jeffrey Epsteins brother claimed on Wednesday that evidence suggested that Mr. Epstein did not die by suicide, but may have been strangled.
The authorities, including the New York City medial examiner, have concluded that the death of Mr. Epstein, the financier who was awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, was caused by hanging in his jail cell.
But the pathologist, Dr. Michael Baden, said on the morning TV show Fox & Friends that Mr. Epstein, 66, experienced a number of injuries that are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation.
I think that the evidence points to homicide rather than suicide, Dr. Baden said, who observed the autopsy, which was conducted by city officials.
Dr. Baden, a former New York City medical examiner and a Fox News contributor, added, Ive not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case.
The findings by Dr. Baden were strongly denied by the citys chief medical examiner, Dr. Barbara Sampson, who previously ruled Mr. Epsteins death on Aug. 10 in the Metropolitan Correctional Center a suicide.

EDIT: yes.. yes, I am misreading it. The forensic pathologist is a fox news contributor. Leaving my earlier comment below for transparency.

but the forensic pathologist doesn't work for fox, right? Or am I misreading it?
His death being a suicide is extraordinarily suspicious to me, so I have some inherent bias towards believing other explanations first, but how would the injuries consistent with strangulation rather than hanging work if he hung himself?

(10,125 posts)Epstein probably had dirt on too many powerful people who joined in his sexcapades.
His death has to be suspicious.

(13,598 posts)The guy, a "a Fox News contributor," is paid by Fox to provide a distraction. He didn't do the autopsy. "may have been strangled." "unusual in suicidal hangings" doesn't mean it never happens or happened here.
But the conspiracy-theory movie-watching Wurlitzer will get some steam out of this.
