DOJ Says It'll Be 'Irreparably Harmed' if Congress Gets Its Hands on Mueller's Secret

DOJ Says It’ll Be ‘Irreparably Harmed’ if Congress Gets Its Hands on Mueller’s Secret Grand Jury Materials

The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday filed a motion to appeal a recent federal court rulingthat ordered the agency to provide impeachment investigators in the U.S. House of Representatives with grand jury materials underlying former special counsel Robert Mueller‘s report on election interference and obstruction of justice. DOJ attorneys also moved for a stay of that prior decision pending their motion before the D.C. Court of Appeals.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howellauthored a lengthy and stinging rebuke of the Trump administration’s efforts to keep the information out of the hands of congressional Democrats.

Monday’s nine-page motion for a stay pending appeal begins with a plea that the government be granted a limited reprieve from Judge Howell’s prior decision mandating the disclosure of the full report.

“A stay is warranted because, without a stay, the Department will be irreparably harmed,” the DOJ argues. “Once the information is disclosed, it cannot be recalled, and the confidentiality of the grand jury information will be lost for all time—particularly if Petitioner United States House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary decides to publicize the now-secret grand jury materials, which it has asserted the power to do through a simple majority vote.”

So therefore, we have a right to have Congress get the unredacted accounts of Grand Jury testimonies.

Barr and his D.O.J. have not represented the interest of the Citizens he is
appointed to protect. In point of fact, at every opportunity, he has done the
complete opposite when given the chance. From conducting an self-identified
investigation contrary to every intelligence agency, to burying a properly filed
whistleblower complaint and scuttling the Mueller Report, this D.O.J. has
performed, in lock step with the White House.

The Courts need to separate the Executive from the Judiciary Branch.

Their fake news worlds most certainly cannot be allowed to intersect the real world that the rest of us live in.

The audacity is outweighed only by the impotency of the argument. You know you've lost when this is the crumb you toss in your defense.

Barr's DoJ will be irreparably harmed because the grand jury and Mueller's evidence will help expose how corrupt Barr's DoJ really is.

Impeachment proceedings are under way. There is no excuse that this material should not be in the hands of the House - particularly after the President's personal attorney, AG Barr, was so deceitful misrepresenting the report. The people and their elected representatives deserve to know what has been going on so that the country can be protected from a repeat in 2020.
