so, i dont want to get to ct here, but it is pretty clear that what happened in 16 could pretty plainly be described as successful phyops.
i just got christopher wylie's book 'mindfuck', and am really hoping it will give me some insight into the trumpkin in my life, who is a liberal at heart, really, but has succumbed to the prion disease that we are living through here.
so, i think most of the republican party understands this, and possibly understands it in a lot more detail than is now known.
if this is true, i think it explains the cult-like hold that twitler has on the party.
it isnt just a mean tweet they fear, it is a targeted and proven effective psychological weapon.
toss in a little surveillance or a little kompromat, i think we live in the united states of blackmail.

(3,678 posts)Trump makes politics fun because it's only about WINNING and all good bros understand that. AND... you get to have a team, which has a mascot and even a color. Rah! rah!
Of course, the running of America should never be viewed like that but that's what Trumpism is.
And having a team doesn't mean you're smart enough to understand the real issues, let alone what's good for you or your country. Trump has such a big personality that it seems he's collected most of these ignorant fan-types into his team.
You ever get a sports fan to change teams? A few do it for various reasons, but most never will because it would feel (or worse, be viewed by others) like a betrayal. And everyone knows this. It's part of what "having a team" even means.

(4,986 posts)Go see a game... Or like me, have your dad teach you how to keep score?
Im a Democrat, have been all my voting life, and I like baseball. However, I hear you about the concern that some view politics thru an overly simplistic team sport lens.
Back to baseball: I happen to adore towns and cities other than my usual places, and I do enjoy seeing what teams they bring - thats part of what makes it so good, when its good. I also just like being in a happy crowd of people doing their thing and relaxing. Id say that rather fits my lifelong liberal tilt.
