Unsurprisingly, Trump used his visit to an HBCU today for what looks like a campaign ad

Very few students were invited to attend Trump's speech at Benedict College. The room was packed with hundreds of Trump supporters, apparently told to look respectful if not outright worshipful while the video Trump tweeted tonight was filmed:

9. If I had to guess...

given his history of corruption as well as the college admissions scandals, etc., I wouldn't be too surprised to learn that he had found somebody in the administration there to bribe into giving him the award and letting him make a speech that he knew he could use to seduce some minority voters.
