(118,749 posts)better off than you were 4 years ago? If you are in the 1% the answer is yes. If you are in the 99% it is your turn to have some attention to your needs".

(30,058 posts)The 46% is probably the bushwackers and would never admit the job situation has changed under Obama.

(8,830 posts)The poll indicates that 46% of people don't feel they are better off - that has less to do with their perception of the President's policies and more about their individual situations, which may or may not have improved.
I don't disapprove of the President, but I would be part of the 46%.
*edited because I saw a misspelling, after the fact.

(36,974 posts)If 46% of folks don't believe he is doing a good job that has NO affect on the President's day to day job of making decisions.
What does have an affect and makes it difficult for a president to reach the goals of what he wants to do is THE CONGRESS.
When there is a House and Senate not functioning as it should due to not having enough Democrats to pass the bills that need to be passed (and/or not a 60 vote super-majority to vote to invoke cloture in the Senate) THAT is what what gets in the way!

I remember vividly 1941 when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and the public coming together to fight the enemy.
We have nothing like that today to unite the public against the war against our economy.

(32,727 posts)Better off mentally? YES! Better off financially? Hmm... yes and no, but the YES is due to Obama, and the NO is due to BUSH!
The housing bubble collapse started in 2008 and my home's value has only declined since then. I'm EXTREMELY underwater, like many other people. BUT, I was able to refi my loan without doing an appraisal and without an increased mortgage insurance premium. OBAMA'S FHA program did that, effective 6/11/12. Prior to then, refinancing didn't make sense for me due to a prior hike in mortgage insurance premiums, and I heard horrible things about the process of modifying loans.
I'm now paying about $300 less per month than I did when I first got this home. $3600 in savings per year, and luckily, there's still the mortgage interest deduction (which would go away to pay for tax cuts for billionaires if Rmoney won). I'm still 70k or so underwater, but I know Obama didn't have anything to do with the bubble bursting and I'd be a complete f$cking idiot to think Willard "let the market sort that out" Rmoney is the solution to my problems.
If someone called and asked me to answer that question with just one word, I'd hang up.

(466 posts)Not just because I support Obama, but because it's actually true for myself and my family.
Undoubtedly there are those among us, and across this country who aren't any better off (perhaps even worse), but it is not due to Obama. It is due to an obstructionist republican congress.
So even if I were worse off, I'd still vote YES; because being under an Obama presidency is better for my psyche than being under a republican one.

(22,143 posts)The wall street crowd is doing great. I'm out of work for over a year and have only worked in 18 of the 43 months of this administration. That private money has to free up and the infrastructure money has to flow or I'm looking at another four years of hell.
Our "side" really blew it when they had the Congress. Scared to death to use their power for the good of the people. It sucks.
